Kardamom Lounge — Restaurant in Milton Keynes

I have been to the Kardamom Lounge on quite a few occasions over the past few years and really enjoyed the food. We had an enjoyable meal on Saturday 13 July 2019 which was a lamb madras and was very tasty. This encouraged us to return the following evening, however, it was a completely different experience. One of the meals was a chicken dish which was totally inedible, hard and chewy and the chips had clearly been reheated and weren't fresh. The other meal was a lamb madras which was average. When we raised this with a member of staff who turned out to be the owners son, the owner was then notified and he came through to see us. The son then started laughing at the situation and when I questioned why he was laughing, he and his father became very aggressive toward me and asked me to step outside for a punch up. I highlighted that our complaint was about the appalling meal we had been served and it was totally unexpected and alarming for us as customers, to be treated like this. While we were not aggressive in any way, we believe that it was only through our calm response, that the incident did not escalate any further. Even when we were outside, the owner kept challenging me to a fight which I declined. I have been a visitor of Stoney Stratford for many years and will never frequent this...

Pretty much all we missed over the last year and finally got a chance to return. Has anything changed? Is the same Chef here? Will it be all that we remembered? No, Yes and yes. Is this the ultimate in Indian food in MK? Must be, is it perfect? No, but it's as close as I have encountered in 40+ years of looking. UPDATE...Last 2 visits have been disappointing after years of perfect food/service. Chewy chicken, no spice, tiny portion and then service so slow as to be unacceptable, not even a third full yet it took an hour to even take our order - how about not answering the phone before you have dealt with people that have bothered to travel to your restaurant? Hate to say this but 3 strikes and you're out. UPDATE 2, returned last weekend and food was back to it's high standards, logged in tonight to remove my negative comments only to find the nasty reply below from the owner. You clearly would recognise me if I met you in the restuarant, I have spent well over a £1000 with you over the last 3-4 years and have NEVER asked for freebies,in fact I used to tip your waiters handsomely, your reply has cost you...

I went to this restaurant today.. I didn’t have a booking but they saw me straight away, which was nice..

The waiter sat me down at the table but the restaurant was really cold. The waiter said I can move at the front which is warmer, which is what we did. Without me even saying they even got an electric fan which was nice…

I traveled from Luton just to eat here. The reviews said good service and food. Thought it would be like other restaurants and be okay/ standard, but the service was soo good… was actually excellent. Went above and beyond thought our time there..

Food was really nice and not like other Bengali restaurants where food is bland this had loads and loads of flavour.. was spot on..

Won’t come back as this was too far for me especially having a little one but if I was local this would be one I go to every week.

No service charge which shows the business doesn’t need to force their customers to pay..

Can’t give this place anything less than 5 star.. Keep up the good effort… keep the prices reasonable as you are and I can assure you you will be number one...
