Had an unusual experience at Bites. From the moment you walk in, the Qurâan is playing loudly, which is unexpected for a burger place and sets a very particular tone. The atmosphere felt uncomfortable, and I couldnât shake the feeling that I didnât belong there.
When ordering, the staff offered no suggestions or conversation, which made the process awkward. Strangely, their mates/customers were friendlier than the actual staff, which didnât help with the overall vibe.
The food itself was a mixed bag. The cheesy fries were disappointingâplain, soggy, greasy, and reminiscent of the frozen fries youâd get at a low-quality kebab shop. The plain fries were no better. Honestly, if fries arenât your thing, they should be taken off the menu. The dips were also odd and didnât complement the meal well.
On the positive side, the burger was excellent. It had a great sear, a good bun, and the sauce ratio was spot on. Iâd definitely get it again. Unfortunately, the second burger, which was meant to be plain, came with onions despite my requestâan issue since my son canât eat onions.
Another major issue: the menu needs serious clarification. It states you get a burger patty in your burger, and you can double up. However, what you end up with is two patties by default, and if you double up, you get four pattiesâand a massive bill. The menu is misleading. It should clearly state if the burger comes with two patties initially.
Overall, the burger saved the day and earned the 3 stars. Without it, the experience would have been closer to a 1. Improvements in the atmosphere, service, fries, menu clarity, and staff attitude are...
Read moreI recently visited Phat Bitez in Milton Keynes, and it was an absolute treat! The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were genuinely friendly, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.
I opted for the 'Mad Lucy' burger, and it did not disappoint. The mozzarella-filled Angus beef patty was cooked to perfection, complemented by caramelised onions and a creamy sauce that tied everything together beautifully. The portion was generous, and every bite was packed with flavor.
What stood out to me was the variety on their menu. From loaded fries to hot dogs and wings, there's something for everyone. Plus, knowing that everything is halal is a big plus.
I also tried their lychee las mojito mocktail, which was refreshingly unique and paired well with the meal.
Overall, Phat Bitez offers a delightful dining experience with quality food and excellent service. It's definitely a spot I'll be returning to and would recommend to anyone looking for a satisfying meal in...
