Group meal in restaurant. Even for a group the service was horrendously slow (4 hours in total!), Meals were served at different times. (i.e. Half our group had finished their starters and mains- the other half had only had one course of soup at that point- with duck and main course still to go after we had finished). So while second half had the rest of their meal, we just watched - no offer of drinks or any puds/teas/coffees etc. IMO food was oversalted even for usual Chinese, rice was dry and the sauce just congealed because it wasn't hot! It is very deceiving from the outside, lived locally for years and have always wanted to try it, finally decided to give it a go. The lady was friendly and polite. We decided to go for the buffet which is now £23.50pp. Good selection and food is all fresh and piping hot. Top tip if you arent all eating an item youve picked let her know. There was so much food so very good value. We had soup, then appetizers of which you can pick 5, followed by aromatic duck, then onto main dishes served with your choice of noodle or rice. Is the restaurant under new management? The food quality for as long as I have known it has always been excellent but last night it was not good at all. Last night I ordered a take away that included a chicken and vegetable dish in a coconut sauce, the chicken was grey and shiny and the vegetables I am sure were left over's. The other dish was sweet & sour king prawns, the prawns and the sauce was good but there was very little else in the way of vegetables what there was just floated in a container of sauce.
