Visited here for the 1st time since refurb/new owners, so yes it had been awhile. We visited on a Tuesday for lunch/dinner with family, the car park was busy so I thought that was a positive sign. Not the easiest car park to negotiate when busy, but we did manage to find a disabled space although this was not very clearly marked as the paint had all but disappeared. Once inside the bar area was busy and noisy, the restaurant part was pretty quiet with only a couple of tables being used. The decor is absolutely lovely with decent lighting, natural wooden flooring, and solid wood tables and chairs a very welcoming venue. The waitress came nice and quick to bring menus and take our drinks order, also told us what the soup of the was as well as pie of the day, very friendly staff I have to say. The menu is quite varied with a good choice, there should be something to suit everyone on offer here. We had 2 people opting for Fish & Chips, these were served with mushy peas and tartare sauce, also served with a half of lemon for squeezing if so desired The other 2 of us both had the Horseshoe Gammon served with chunky chips, and garden peas along with 2 perfectly cooked fried eggs. I have to say the food was excellent overall, freshly cooked and good portions size wise. The 2 people that had the Fish both said it would have been nice to have seen a small side salad on the plate, as when the plate arrived with the food the plate looked a bit bare The 2 Gammon dinners when served there was no need for any salad, there was ample food on the plate, which I have to say was a great Gammon Steak I would recommend a visit here, we will definitely be returning again soon.

The Plough has opened under new ownership featuring an Organic Kitchen label. The building has been refurbished inside and out, with a clean rustic, yet modern motif sporting rough wood panels on the walls. The menu caters to those with restricted diets by providing gluten, grain, dairy, meat, and other ingredient indications for each menu item. Gone is the standard pub grub, replaced by truly thoughtful, elevated chef creations. Each ingredient is allowed to play a staring role in the dish, without masking the natural flavours. Whether you chose the sea bass with roasted chicory and shallots or the confit chicken and potatoes, your taste buds will dance around the unique flavour combinations and perfectly prepared ingredients. While the food is the true star of this new pub and the interior is a vast improvement over he old, there is still some room for improvement to the dining area. The space is nice and comfortable, but noise is a problem with so many flat surfaces. Gnats and flies are currently a problem in the summer heat, but this can be remedied with a few well-placed fly traps. The canal-side beer garden is inviting and causal allowing patrons to enjoy the passing boats and open air conversation.

Walking along the canal yesterday 26/03/22 & came across this lovely looking pub/restaurant (I thought it closed years ago) we decided to call in for a drink (just the 1 😃) beautiful inside, the staff were really nice & welcoming. It was busy as it was a warm sunny day but we got served quickly, had a look at the menu what a brilliant menu so decided to eat,I had mixed grill my friend had fillet steak we both loved it,best food we’ve had in Milton Keynes in a long time top marks to the chef, note to chef ā€œ the peppercorn sauce could be a bit thickerā€ but it was lovely so please don’t take offence šŸ˜€.I would highly recommend this lovely quaint little gem of a pub/restaurant to everyone (dog friendly pub) I guarantee you will not be disappointed I can’t wait to go back again this is now my favourite pub/restaurant in Milton Keynes & I only live 5 mins from it.

We popped into this pub for lunch with friends on a Sunday afternoon. We all ordered food but separately (not too fussed about them arriving at precisely the same time) but given the pub was very quiet we thought this would be ok. 5/6 meals arrived and so much time passed that everyone finished all food and drinks, so I went in just to say that if they hadn't started my food yet that I'd prefer to cancel as we were now needing to leave, but not wanting to be rude I said if they had started cooking we would all wait. They said it had been ready a while ago but had walked around and I hadn't claimed it so I'd missed it and they would start again. I explained that no-one had come to us but in any case I didn't want them to start again so a refund would be my preference. The waitress said she couldn't authorise that so would check with the owner. In the mean time we had been making speeches at the table every so often (celebratory day) so when ready, the next person was clinking the glass for attention. Next thing we knew the owner came out and shouted at us "if you wanted my attention you could have asked instead of clinking, as that's very rude" - we tried to explain but he wouldn't listen and shouted that we were "very f**king rude". We left. Sunday afternoon ruined. Awful approach to service. He refunded the cost of my food but there was no need for...
