We stopped here for lunch following a walk in the forest. Now to be fair to the pub we are probably not their normal clientele, we were two couples one of which are Vegan.
The menu looked like it would cater for our friends but we were very disappointed with the food. We ordered Humus and Pita Bread, Onion rings, and some chips.
The Humus came in a reasonable sized ramekin dish but it was dark brown and clearly spiced with something that made the taste a bit nasty.
The chips were served in a mug, again decent sized, but we seemed to get a mug full of bits of chips, nothing bigger than a finger nail.
The Onion Rings were battered not breaded as shown on the menu and we're rather greasy, again a reasonable sized portion.
We would not recommend this pub for vegan or vegetarian diners.
The burgers we saw coming out looked great but we did not try these so maybe this place is more tuned to meat eaters.
The staff, particularly the barman and our waitress were both friendly,...
Read moreHave just eaten here as me and the wife are on a breakaway to the New Forest and were looking for some traditional pub grub. This rating is based on the food, I had a chicken bacon and leek pie, which came potatoes and a bowl of vegetables, and my wife had the burger and chips. We were greeted warmly, the food came out in a very reasonable time frame and the food was extremely good as quite often it can be hit and miss with pub food. My slice of pie was ram packed full of chicken and tasted amazing. The roast potatoes were ok, nothing special. My wife commented that the burger was great quality meat, (her meal came with salad as well, but we asked for no salad). I loved the fact that the food was bot over salted and yet tasted fantastic. We paid a very reasonable £14.95 for each meal and was worth every penny. The atmosphere was good with the sports side of the pub brimming with people. Woudl certainly recommend this place if you are in the area and fancy some...
Read moreWe called at a few pubs in Brockenhurts and found this to be the nicest and definitely the cheapest beer and the only one that sold John Smiths!! Lovely outside seating area with an enclosed building to sit in also, all the tables outside are cleaned regularly by lovely staff. The guys waiting on the tables were very attentive and cleared empty tables quickly. Staff inside were very pleasant and quick to offer help. Very clean all round. On my second visit that weekend I ordered. Cheesy chips, very nice home made chips not frozen, my only moan was that the cheese was very tasteless, a nice strong cheddar would have made this more satisfying for me, but it was well presented and lovely. When leaving we asked a member of bar staff if they could order us a taxi back to our campsite which he did without hesitation. All in all the nicest...
