Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stopped here for a spot of lunch on our way to Somerset, having looked at lots of places before deciding on here. We entered and were seated very quickly despite being quite busy. After looking over the menu and placing our order... this was where our visit was soured! I had decided on the breakfast but didn't want the mushrooms... and asked the waitress if they could be substituted for an extra sausage... both of which are available as extra items to order, both at the same price! I was promptly and quite bluntly told... no exchanges! I was quite surprised by how rudely this was answered, having asked the same question in many cafes to be fully obliged. I politely pointed out that both were the same price as extra items... to be met with the same blunt, rude answer, and told to order an extra sausage at a cost. I then asked if I removed the mushrooms from my order, would I be charged the same for less... to be told, again, very bluntly yes and that I could order each item separately, which would then work out a lot more money. It was at this point that I was on the verge of just leaving, but knowing my wife was hungry, I just decided to change my order. Funnily enough... we didn't see the waitress again and had another waiter continue to serve us, who was much nicer! Anyway, the food arrived... my wife had ordered the ham, eggs, and chips, and I had ordered the smashed avocado on toast with bacon and tomato. The ham looked like cheap wafer thin ham out of a tesco, and the smashed avocado was more pureed than smashed.... but both were actually quite tasty, and we ate and left. It was just such a shame that the initial service was so rude. Otherwise, we may have looked to visit again, but unfortunately not... Oh, and I did really like the little plastic plants on the table... so much I decided to get one for homeš¤š Service rated as 1* Food rated as...

My husband and I visited here with our one year old for lunch and from the off we were made to feel unwelcome. One of the male members of staff, who I assume was a manager of sorts, clearly didnāt want us taking up a table for four (despite there being three of us) and tried to offer us a table for two. I requested a table for four because you need more room with a toddler, so you can keep drinks and hot food out of their reach.
Once at the table we parked the pram next to us, with plenty of room for other guests/staff to walk past without difficulty. Whilst we were looking at the menu a waitress came to the table and asked if they could move the pram to the front door to clear the walkway. I politely said that Iād rather they didnāt, as it was full of our personal items and shopping and we were at the opposite end of the restaurant so couldnāt keep an eye on it, plus there was ample room for people to pass by. She just looked exasperated and walked away, and two minutes later the manager came to our table to ask the same thing. I tried to explain that we werenāt comfortable with this and that we couldnāt see the problem as there was plenty of space. He clearly wasnāt going to give up so we decided to leave as the whole experience had made me feel on edge since walking through the door.
We ended up a couple of doors down in Peggy Mayās Cafe, and all I can say is everything happens for a reason. Peggy Mayās was fantastic with delicious food and friendly staff. Not once were we made to feel uncomfortable or unwelcome....
