The pub is very nice, lovely inside, the staff were very polite and the food came out in good time but that's where the good times ended. I ordered the Ploughman's, which was described as a sharing meal, for 2. What you get is 1 scotch egg, cut in half, some soggy salt beef, bread that was wet, like it had been defrosted, a pile of wilted rocket and cheese, albeit a good portion of cheese. That was it, for £24 it felt like a big over charge and sub-par food. My mrs ordered a bacon, brie and cranberry sandwich, which was ok but nothing to write home about. All in all, the two meals, 2 drinks and 1 soft drink came to nearly £60 and I honestly can't understand how it can be justified, we've eaten better food, multiple courses for less money and enjoyed it more. Maybe we had a bad day there, I don't know, but with other options on the same street I can't imagine ever going back.

What an amazing pub , we visited Lyndhurst for a day out and popped in for dinner before we left to go home. First impressions was very good ,the COVID procedures in place were impeccable we were asked to sanitise and fill in a track and trace app before being shown to a freshly prepared table. All staff were friendly and attentive, a nice touch, a QR code for the menu and the cutlery wrapped in the napkin. We both ordered the ‘chicken burger which came quickly piping hot and delicious. Lots of staff asking if we needed anything and cleaning used tables ready for the next customer and a very attentive manager checking everything detail.what more could you ask for in these worrying times I whole heartily recommend a visit to the this pub and a thank you to the staff for a top experience.

Love the fox and hounds - great atmosphere, great drinks selection and friendly (if not extremely busy) staff. They would probably benefit from hiring 1 more person for the restaurant to cope with a busy Saturday evening. Live music was very loud and only ok - ideally it would have been background noise for the restaurant and loud in the pub but where it isn't that huge inside I'm not sure if that's possible. Their Christmas decorations are lovely and the food is very nice. Limited selection for someone that is gluten intolerant and vegetarian, only 2 mains available. But what I did have (mushroom bourguignon) was very yummy.

Firstly the good stuff. Very dog friendly with bowls of water everywhere, blankets available for furry friends to lay on and a nice outdoor area if you want to sit outside with your dog.

The food is very nice, but quite expensive. I don't usually pay £13 for a Caesar salad, but hey ho. Probably the quality of ingredients, but just be aware these are a little more up market than your typical pub lunch prices. The salad was delicious though and my husband really enjoyed his burger.

They do cater to allergies. They don't have an allergy menu in the pub, but their website does have a dietary filter on the menu. However they can also make alterations to make things suitable, such as removing croutons from the salad I ordered. The salad is flagged on the allergy menu. The waitress who delivered our food also confirmed the meal was gluten free without prompting as my allergy had been noted.

Very nice pub overall, although we may have visited on an extremely busy day, and maybe they were short staffed, but no one apologised or explained why only two staff were on the bar with so many people in a disorderly queue trying to order food and drinks. For the prices we were paying I would have expected a table service, or at least more staff available to help keep the queue under control. Two people yelling "Who's next?" at a mess of a queue wasn't helpful. On multiple occasions they also handed people menus at the bar, let them peruse them slowly without serving anyone else, and generally held up those of us who had looked at menus at our table already. Seemed utterly ridiculous. You had to be quite aggressive to get your dinner order in and it wasn't something I appreciated for what should have been a leisurely pub lunch. I knocked off a star for this. If the service had been more orderly I would have...

Extremely disappointing . We ordered 2 burger and a pint deal £12 each. Also 2 starters. Soup.....which appeared in a hot bowl but cold soup. Chicken wings....that were so spicy the smell made my husbands eyes water. They were extremely short staffed...and were taking no more food orders. They did change the wings for pate (they said at no extra charge at the time ) and warmed the soup which was nice when hot second time around. The burgers arrived when we were both at the toilet. I had asked for no cheese as intolerant to dairy. After taking a bite...which had a very strong burger sauce in it , I realised it was covered in cheese.No.one was around to deal to or checked with us to see if we were ok or wanted any sauces etc . We eventually found someone (by this time my husband had nearly finished his) It was too.late to change as no more food orders and I wasn't feeling grrat tbh it had already upset my tummy and just wanted to leave. My husband went to the bar to try and pay the bill quickly. The lady took £20 off from the bill. However we had been charged £50 which was totally wrong and far too much. They had charged us for all the starters we can only imagine or the initial pint which came earlier but was part of the burger and a pint deal. We just paid the £30 and left ..which was no discount at all for what we had. All in all disappointing service and food. It left ne feeling unwell and spoilt what should have been a...

Having ate here previously, I was very disappointed with my beef roast dinner this afternoon which took an unfortunate length of time. No apology was forthcoming, or an offer of a round of drinks as compensation.

9 of us attended your venue today, & other than my friends two cheesy chips arriving reasonably quickly, everything else too took long. It was explained to us that "things were busy" sometime later while waiting, but we had to go and follow this up for an update as the kids were getting upset.

While I didnt mind the price of the roast (£21), the vendor should be aware that this then sets a expectation & standard that should be met.

I received an abundance of fat on my beef while I saw other plates brought out with a much better serving of beef & my cabbage was cold.

It takes a lot of time and effort to build up trust and a favourable experience for the customer but it takes very little to damage this and lose customer loyalty.

Unfortunately after this afternoons experience I can no longer find a reason to visit The Fox & Hound.

This review is in no reflection towards any of the staff on duty today who were very courteous & helpful & I am very gratfeul for the service they provided today and...
