We visited The White Hart on Friday night whilst on holiday for the weekend. The table we were shown to was sticky and dirty. We told the waitress who apologised and told us it had been cleaned but she would do again. It was still sticky, I think maybe it was due to the table needed re varnishing? I ordered from the special. My meal was ÂŁ18.95 and description sounded lovely. Steak in breadcrumb with Tomatoe and basil sauce with mozzarella and a side salad with a balsamic drizzle. Unfortunately what came was awful. It was a cheap price of well cooked steak in breadcrumb which was extremely soggy and the tomato and basil sauce was just tomato purĂ©e with a small sprinkle of basil and some melted cheese. The salad was bitter and had no dressing and no balsamic drizzle. Nobody came to check how our meals were as waiting staff were very busy. I ate half my meal and then gave up. We advised staff about the matter. In the first instant they apologised and said they will tell chef so it doesnât happen again. This did not help me. I was unhappy with this and spoke again. They then took my meal off the bill but was not happy about doing so. Shame as ruined our...
Read moreAverage service with ok food.
We stopped off here after a long days walking. Reception by the staff was strange as the young man asked to take us to a table seemed surprised to be asked by the young lady that took our booking.
Service was iffy, with all the cutlery and serving spoons coming out after we got the food, and the condiments for Turkey are not tomato ketchup and mayonnaise. The Turkey was warm and the potatoes possibly old and definitely over cooked as acouple were burnt. The veg was OK however the cauliflower cheese had split, however I cleared plate but it wasn't great.
We asked for the bill and after 10 minutes decided to go to the bar to pay. The young man we asked finished at 4pm so instead of finishing his duties left without telling anyone and we were left there waiting. Not great overall and wouldn't rush back there I'm affraid.

Read moreDecent enough pub. Food is nice & staff tet to look after you but seem to lack experience in engaging with what the customer actually wants. I absolutely do know what I want & it seems that somehow that wad a strange concept at first. I had a nice meal & the barman did a stunning job with my drink so well done. I think it's perhaps the senior management that needs to engage more with their staff, or indeed brush up upon dealing with the public. I got the impression they thought the business would run itself,, and it's not the 1st time, so wake up White Hart management. Not a bad pub though so don't be put off by my comments, I did give them 5...
