First and last visit to this pub. Will start with the ok point and that was that it was cheap and food was OK, though my sister said her lasagna was only warm ish and not very nice.
Given the current times I don't feel this pub is putting much effort in to helping manage risk from covid, (given most pubs etc were desperate to get open again you would think they'd want to do as much as possible to manage risk to reduce risk of further lockdown) , yes they've put some screens up but that's about it, given that my sister had visited another spoons and said they had really managed it well, obviously this is not across the board with these pubs. The table had been used and had stuff on it so we waited patiently for someone to come and clear it, the plates were soon cleared but the cleaning of the table with a dirty rag out of the chaps pocket and two sprays of some cleaning stuff but wiping a small area of the table overall. We ended up getting baby wipes out and using hand sanitiser to try and give the table a clean, the chairs were also filthy, i wiped these down with baby wipes and the wipes were practically black when finished (a cleaning station where you can pick up a spray and some disposable cloth would be much better, as seen in other franchises, as this would allow you to give your table and chairs a clean to your satisfaction). We were not asked about the tracing form so this isn't being managed as far as we could see. The hand sanitiser at the entrance had run out.
Overall visiting this pub reduced my confidence in eating out at all at this time as it made me feel the risk is too high and it wasn't the nice experience that eating out should be. I was glad when we had finished our meals and...
Read moreNice food and setting. Went in there with 2 friends for an early evening meal so it was next to dead quite with hardly any staff or customers in sight. My friend told us that you were able to order food and drinks from the app, so we gave it a go. I had already ordered a drink from the bar, being served by some old guy who looked rather miserable. After ordering, I was surprised to find that the drinks were brought straight over instead of coming with the food like first thought. He returned to the bar where a lady was waiting to be served, the old guys response was “Ill be with you in a second, some people (Me and my friends) are too lazy to order at the bar”. First I was quite shocked, if I had said this in my restaurant, I would have been sacked. Which followed by him calling me and my 3 friends “ar*eholes”. At this point, I wanted to say something but felt that we would not recieve our food if we questioned this old timer’s actions. I will NOT be returning as I feel we were treated inappropriately, why have a system in place if some individuals do not want to follow it and insults the customers for trying...
Read moreWas staying in the area with my family last week and our first visit to The Six Bells was good enough (decent food for what it was; friendly, efficient service) that we decided to have breakfast there on our final day on the way home. The service was terrible. A conspicuous group of six of us sat unnoticed at an empty table for an age and a family who arrived a considerable time later than us was served immediately by a confused-looking server. I wish I could tell you what the vegetarian breakfast I ordered was like, but the same server somehow managed to take five orders for a party of six, mine being the omitted one. Despite repeated assurances that my meal would be out "in a minute" there was no sign of it by the time my family had finished theirs. I felt like Geoffrey Palmer's character in Fawlty Towers ("I want my sausages!"). Eventually I cancelled the order and received a half-hearted apology (though not from the guy who screwed up our order). My family felt that their meals had been spoilt by the experience too. So, the two stars for our first visit, and a big fat zero for the second. I...
