Do not go here if you have celiac disease Kristina makes you feel so dirty and is ment to be some sort of manger!I visited Newcastle airport on the 3rd of June we were so excited for our holiday me and my girls and my partner. Me and my little girl has celiac disease I searched before I went to see what we could eat gluten free your restaurant aster and thyme come up and was so impressed that yous done gluten free me got there at around 4:30 to 5:30am.I walked in and spoke to Kristina which I believe must be some sort of manger she has brown hair. I mentioned that we had celiac disease she said is it actually celiac or an intolerance I said celiac disease. She wasn’t very friendly at all but I let that go we then sat down I seen on the menu yous could do a gluten breakfast with gluten free bread she then told me I couldn’t have the gluten free bread as we were celiac. She then showed us on her phone was we could have and everything that was on there was on the breakfast I just said if we can’t have the bread we will just have the gluten free breakfast without the bread. She said we couldn’t do that we had to pick the things individually even tho she had already scanned the qr code and everything on there was just the same as the gluten free breakfast. I then touched her phone to scroll down she then grabbed her phone angrily and started wiping it making me feel so dirty cause we have celiac disease I am not having my daughter feel like it is a dirty thing to have it can’t be helped. I then got really upset started crying and walked out my daughter is asking me why are you crying mammy. I walked back in without my children told Kristina that just because we have celiac disease it doesn’t mean we are dirty and told her I really didn’t like what she did I can honestly say it really spoilt our holiday I can’t believe someone working in hospitality can treat you this way never mind a manger. I feel sick at the way we were treat when we were so excited for our holidays. She is very rude the way she spoke to us numerous of...
Read moreI don’t usually expect much from airport dining, but Aster & Thyme still managed to fall below the mark. The service was painfully slow — drinks took over 20 minutes to arrive, after they’d sent them to the wrong table.
The food was bang average. I had the green smash and eggs, which was bland, small, and frankly quite awful. The full English and stotties actually looked decent. I had food envy.
But the worst part? They tried to sneak in the service charge twice — once per round of drinks. When we politely pointed it out and asked for it to be corrected, their face changed in a way that suggested we’d just asked them to pay for it themselves. You could actually see the customer service leave their body.
Overall, it felt like a place banking on location convenience rather than quality or service. Not somewhere I’d return to, and certainly...
Read moreAfter halfway through my Heineken I felt a sharp pain in my throat. I looked into the glass and at the bottom was broken glass shards wedged into the glass. Clearly someone put it in there. However bar tenders should check whether the glass is suitable to use and clean during every wash.. this is a serious breach of health and safety. I appreciate you gave me another pint to say sorry However I think you need to look at your SOP,s Arrived at my holiday with a sore throat.. if anything comes out of this by examination by a doctor unfortunately your public liability insurance will be passed to my solicitors for any damages you may have caused my body. Not happy at all about the situation. I suggest you run your cameras back ! And train your staff correctly to check glassware before serving...
