Very disappointed! We used to go to the first shop around the corner however after experiencing not so good food a couple of times whilst they opened a new shop elsewhere in Newcastle we decided not to go back!

A few of our friends have been on and on at us to try again since they have opened around the corner, they said the food is outstanding, fresh and full of flavour!

Last night we placed an order for quite a lot of food to be able to try in the comfort of our own home. Order was running late however, we didn’t mind as we thought to ourselves it would be nice hot and fresh food.

We live literally 5 minutes drive from the shop. By the time we got home and opened the food most of it was cold apart from the outside of the burritos! Rather than put the food in the microwave as suggested by the owner we decided just to tuck in and eat it as it was.

Everything tasted the same, dry, no bang full of flavour we experienced when we first started to go! Everything was as bland as you could imagine and very dry! The burritos ended up in the bin because they where just very dry and tasteless! I wouldn’t usually leave comments about a business however, we spent a lot of money and were looking so forward to this meal.

What a shame! So many good quality takeaway/restaurants start with good intentions then it becomes about the profit! £6 for 3 tacos when we first went now it’s £9/9.50/10. inflation I get but when your receiving less food and the quality has dropped massively then that inflation becomes a rip off! Also can I point out service charge in the UK is illegal, you can’t service charge for the use of debit or credit card however, 0.50p was added to an already pricey bill!

I hope this is taken as constructive criticism and not as an attack on anyone, we honestly hope that the food will go back to when you first opened and love for your venture was still...

First time customer ....

The take out food was beautiful but two of my family members both agreed that they would've liked a little more filling in their burritos 🌯 which were a little on the thin side.

My tacos 🌮 were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious (which is exactly what I expected) but the tiny little boxes they used for the three portions of chips (which cost a whopping £10.50 in total - £3.50 a portion) left me feeling rather hungry and a little disappointed 🍟. I'm not a big eater which is why I decided to have the tacos but I can't EVER recall having such a small portion of chips in my whole adult life. I think the boxes are the same size as the ones they use in Nandos for a portion of takeout hummus.

I have awarded 4** because despite the gripe I had with the size of the portions the food was exceptional quality and the presentation on the taco's was outstanding (and I strongly believe that good food should be commended), however, I deducted 1* as I feel that overall I did not get value for money in relation to the chips (and the lack of filling in the burritos which were very tasty but a little lacking in some of the ingredients).

I still recommend Chucho's to anyone who would like to sample some of their Mexican cuisine (as the food is exceptional) and I would definitely buy their tacos again without a doubt.

I'm not sure I would purchase their chips or burritos because of the reasons above...

Went here on Friday night (I’ve tried to contact restaurant directly about this but can’t find an email address). 1) they didn’t have our reservation so had to wait around for 10 mins whilst they sorted us a table - no apology / drink offered 2) sat down for 25 mins before we got up and asked at the bar if we could order a drink, we were told someone would come to the table to take our order but had to wait another 10 minutes whilst the waiting staff cleared tables that no one was going to sit out 3) our starter then arrived before our drinks…which arrived more than 45 minutes after we had. 4) tried to order another drink at 9pm and was told bar was closed so only beer (it wasn’t - another drinks was brought). Food was fine for the price we paid. We had a chat with the waitresses after - who had been working very hard but clearly not trained yet - one it was only her second shift. Definitely needs more staff and support for existing staff as this was probably the worst service I’ve had in...

Visited Chucho's recently and was immediately seated. They had a great selection of Mexican drinks on their menu - highly recommended the Michelada. Between the two of us, we shared the nachos, 3 tacos and a burrito. We only had to ask once for everything to be adapted for vegan, which was ideal. The nachos were delecious and beautifully presented. The refried black beans and pico de gallio were amazing and the chips were homemade. We also had the cactus, fajita and blackbean/plantain taco. First off the taco shells were super authentic and delicious. The fajitas probably weren't my favourite but the other two were spot on. We shared the courgette and sweetcorn burrito which was filled to the brim and packed with flavour. The staff were lovely, the atmosphere was buzzing. All round great experience.

I have been many times when I lived in Newcastle but moved away years ago. This weekend for my hen/birthday party I booked for a party of 15 friends. Huge shout out to the servers and chefs. Honestly, the quality of the food has not changed or wavered over the years. I was thoroughly satisfied 🤤. The cocktails were amazing, and we had the large room to ourselves which meant us being such a large and loud group of people didn't (hopefully) irritate other customers. We ended up staying way past my originally planned 2 hours as we were just having such a good time playing pool, eating, drinking, and being very merry. Thank you so much to all the staff for making it a fantastic hen/birthday party for me. ❤️🇲🇽🌮🥰

The best Mexican food I've tasted! I'll be returning for more. Nice, friendly staff make this a pleasant experience. EDIT: Visited Chucho's again after such a great experience here, but very disappointed. Rate would drop from an easy ⭐⭐⭐⭐ to a ⭐⭐. The building was uncomfortably cold (the waiting staff wore their coat, and even the chef had a coat on while preparing the food - not sure this would comply with Health & Safety regulations?). The staff were lovely, but the foo, although tasty, was not just tepid, but cold. I was planning to take family here after my previous positive experience, but will look for another Mexican restaurant after my experience today.
