I actually used to work here, and can honestly say it's an okay place. The management could do with some work, but the team members are very kind people, who were all amazing to work with.
Hygeine standard were always somewhat high while I worked here. Food was handled well, but I know a lot of employees don't wash their hands as often as they should, and a lot of people cut corners to save time. Witnesses delivery orders purposely messed up to save time, witnessed people miss out small things like cream on a coffee if it saves a few seconds. I hadn't even done the health and safety training before my first time in kitchen, and they didn't seem to care too much. But a lot of stuff like this is very minor. 99% of the time, your food is handled with care, consideration, and is made and given correctly.
The worst experience I had here was with a woman with a newborn. She asked for some hot water for her babies bottle. I was just a trainee, and didn't know how to get just hot water from the machine. I explained the situation to a manager, and he tried to make me charge this woman for "Tea without the tea" so she could feed her baby. I did as I was told, and one of the other managers saw what I was doing and began shouting at me. I explained that another manager had told me to do it, and this stingey ass manager denied everything. Vile person. Trying to exploit some struggling parent and her new born, for literally no reason. Wouldn't have benefitted him at all.
Despite the nice food, fast and friendly service, this place, being in Byker, is offers riddled with chavvy teenagers who make the establishment hell on earth. They're loud, annoying, and quite frankly cause a lot of mess, damage, and have even fought and assaulted workers and other customers at some points. But look, if you're gonna go to a Byker McDonald's, you get what you're given really.
I ended up quitting because management decided to not listen to my complaints until it was too late, and tried to twist the whole thing around like it was my fault. So again, employees are lovely, but a good amount of the managers aren't very nice.
I'd recommend a lot of places over here, but going here...
Read moreGot breakfast this morning, we don't go often, the order was incorrect, nothing major, didn't ruin my morning, the hash browns weren't included in the bag, missing 2. I called after a while to inform the branch of their error and obviously I had paid for food I was not given. Just assumed I would get them next time I visited if they made a note in their complaint or good will gesture file. I wasn't going to drive 2 miles for £1odd refund. I appreciate feedback in my business area and assumed other corporations would too. Firstly the girl who answered the phone was shrieking with laughter when she answered the phone, quite rude and unprofessional. Bad first impression straight away. I explained, initially not given an apology of any kind at all and she stated "I do know how to resolve the problem if youre not a regular customer, I can't physically get them to you unless you want to come back". I explained I didn't necessarily want anything except an apology and give the feedback. She was very patronising and totally disregarded customer service. I got an apology when I asked for one, the response was "well I was going to apologise at the end of the phone call". She was happy with that service. That was that. She was very offensive, her attention was in something else, obviously had poor training or the lacked the ability to deal with customers. That unpleasant conversation was frustrating and unfortunately my loyalty to brands is through service. I find most branches to be exceptional, always courteous and polite...
Read moreFirstly let me say that the Only reason this place doesn't get a negative score is because it's not possible.
The staff (except Brenda the dining Assistant) are just categorically the rudest staff I've ever had the displeasure of encountering. Management are a joke, zero management visibility in the store, and the staff they employ are nothing short of discourteous and downright disrespectful.
I've never had such a negative customer experience in my life, and I wish I could say this was an isolated incident but it is not. This place is close enough to my home that it's the most convenient to use so I stomach the terrible service in favour of efficiency and convenience.
Seriously, the fact that this is a company store and McDonald's fail to follow up their escalated complaints regarding this store, are testament to the fact that McDonald's as a company don't care about your experience, they care about the money and that's it.
Don't expect a great time, your food may be to your expectations but you'll likely be displeased with the staff and their lack of customer service.
Also, the kids that live local to this place absolutely plague this branch. Smashing windows, spitting in the store, effing and blinding and fun fighting in store, all to no response from the management. They don't even try and control or intervene any more, so unless you're willing to say something yourself, you better expect to sit down, shut up, and listen to their potty mouths and misbehaviour while you try to eat.
McDonald's, you...
