Spice Hut Newcastle — Restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne

Went out with three friends to Spicehut and we ordered two Philly Ribeye steaks and a double patty Smash burger, and as always the food was top tier with amazing flavour and high quality ingredients. The Philly cheese sandwich was packed with flavour and upgrading to a meal with cheesy fries was definitely worth it. One of the biggest highlights of dining in was the access to unlimited condiments, and I genuinely have to say that the garlic mayo in the sauce bottles (not the plastic takeaway ones) is easily the best I’ve ever had with perfect consistency, a balanced garlic kick and a subtle hint of sweet herbs making it a flawless 10 out of 10. The only downside to the experience was the long wait for food and the fact it cools down quite quickly if you're eating in, though this isn’t really a problem for takeaway since a microwave sorts that out easily. Another thing to be aware of is that the place only accepts cash which I assume is for tax reasons so it’s good to plan ahead, but if needed there’s a cash machine down the road at the Tesco fuel station or another at the Post Office in the opposite direction. I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at Spice Hut. First, they got our order wrong—we specifically asked for a certain burger, but they gave us the wrong one without any notice. On top of that, some of the chicken in another burger was raw, which is absolutely unacceptable.

When my husband called to politely ask why they gave us the wrong burger and why they didn’t inform us that they no longer make the one we ordered, they were incredibly rude. Instead of apologising or trying to resolve the issue, they snapped at us and made it seem like it was our fault.

All we wanted was a simple phone call so we could have adjusted our order, but their attitude and lack of care for their customers made an already disappointing experience even worse. We were excited for our meal but were left feeling let down and disrespected.

After this experience, we won’t be returning and won’t recommend this place unless they address their customer service and food quality...

We ordered the Loaded Box (Smash Burger, 2 Lamb Ribs, 2 Peri Wings, Mix Donner and Nacho Cheesy Fries) and Peri Peri Wings (Mild Mango) and Peri Chips.

The new place looks so gorg inside, proper comfy seats and plenty of room😎 The food is next level! If you’re a bit indecisive and can’t decide what to go for I’d deffo recommend getting one of the box meals, literally comes with a bit of everything. My boyfriend absolutely loved it, his fave parts were the lamb ribs which he said were packed full of flavour and fell off the bone and close second fave was the mix donner👌🏼👌🏼 my wings were so tasty as well and of course I had to try some of his burger which was 10/10!! I’m deffo trying the butter chicken burger next time 🍔🍔

I’d 100% recommend even if spicy food isn’t for you as I ordered my food in mild and it was👌🏼
