Positives. Sofa bed plus double room. High ceilings. Very clean. Excellent shower. Friendly guy on reception. Plenty of pg tips, nescafe sachets and sugar provided. Overall, cheap and we made the best of it as we like to discover the real parts of a city and are not afraid of walking. Great family run restaurant 5 mins away on Stanhope Street called Persian Delights and a small Asda 5 mins walk away too. Also on bus routes, from town. Mostly v quiet despite proximity to main road. Negatives. 1. Crazy charge to leave luggage. Use the bounce app and go to little local stores by the Spoons Castle Mile pub. 2. Area is potentially lovely but pretty run down and the litter on streets is shocking. 3. It's a very full on 20 min walk up the hill from town. Downhill is fine.4. Sofa bed sagging, no mattress protector. 5. Bathroom 2 toilet rolls for 4 days for 2 people. No shower gel in the container and the shampoo dispenser didn't work! 6. Kitchen area. 1 wine glass, very small number of everything else and the cheapest , flimsy chopping knife, pathetic! All in...
Read moreI stayed here from Thursday 5th Augustus MMXXI - Saturday 7th Augustus MMXXI and I have to say I was very impressed with the place. We were situated in Room 7 in the attic, yet the place still felt spacious. We met the owner on Thursday afternoon, who seemed a very friendly and down to Earth gentleman and as someone who is very conscious about hygiene, I spent my entire stay in awe at how clean the place was. Everything that we needed was provided here, the shower was very good and so were the kitchen facilities. Especially obseeving the price (which I consider a bargain for a place like this), Bentinck Apartments are an ideal place to stay in Newcastle, with just a fifteen minute walk to the city centre, I highly recommend...
Read moreOverall it was fine, I think expensive for its location.
The room we had was fine, clean and equipped. It did get a little hot in there though. I could open the windows when sleeping because the local idiots were driving about in their cars with their popping and banging exhausts all night.
The above is why I feel the location isn't great. Its right by a main road and all night I was being woke up by either groups of drunks shouting or car exhausts literally shaking the flat. I appreciate this is not the fault of the apartments but I'd rather have paid less to sleep better in a Premier Inn, or gone a little further...
