We often come here for sunday lunch and it is always excellent. However we booked a table for Mothers day and were quite disappointed. The quality and portion sizes were completely different to any of our past experiences. We got one small bowl of vegetables between two of us, with about 1 tablespoon swede, a few shreds of cabbage and literally 4 green beans and 3 mange tout. Seeing as it was Mother’s Day and busy we didn’t say anything. However we paid for the same service and meal we always have so could have been much better. I would expect the meals to be consistent all of the time.

First time visiting last week for food. We thought we would give the gyros a try with it being discounted. It was nice but wouldn't say it was your authentic gyros with rotisserie seasoned meat like I usually have, was shredded chicken breast with a light season which was slightly cold. Despite that portion was good , staff friendly. Just not sure yet if I would return for the food.

First time in this pub, greeted by a very pleasant barman. Looks like it has had a good refurb during lock down, looks good, with plenty of space inside and some tables outside at the rear. Not a huge menu but everyone will be able to find something, beef shin and ale pie is good. All the staff are very helpful and polite. Somewhere to try if you fancy a change.

Never experienced anything so bad in my life!!! Booked about 2 months ago for a christmas day dinner for a party of 11 and still had no dinner. The table was booked for 1.30, by 3pm we were still sitting in the bar area waiting to be seated at our dining table, eventually at 3.20 we were taken through to be seated , to then almost be given our main meal as they'd forgot we hadn't had our starters. Starters came 10 mins later with two big slabs of pate and two tiny slices of barley cooked baguet, some plates had chutney and some had a side salad and some had neither. After waiting another half hour the table beside us started receiving their dinners .... omg i wouldnt of fed it to my dog!!! The yorkshires & roasties were as black as cole, there was no gravy or veg served for a good 5-6 mins after the dinners had been served leaving it to go cold. At this point we'd had enough of waiting, our children were so hungry and tired and my 75 year old gran was unwell as she hadn't brought her medication with not expecting to be spending our full xmas day sitting around in this bar. Totally disgraceful ... we were given a refund but this did not compensate for the fact this ruined our christmas day entirely. In 75 years my grandmother has never not had her christmas day dinner and was so upset as this is the one day a year we can all manage to get together due to work and travel commitments. One of our family members had even travelled from his home in Dublin to spend this day with us. There isnt words strong enough to express our disappointment and hurt...

Been visiting this place on and off for over 3 years since returning to live here.I like the place in general and seems to have improved under the new management.I always spend a lot of money on food and drink on my visits and do enjoy the refreshment.

There are some drawbacks however. The Gents toilets need urgent attention to plumbing and fittings and toilet role holders 'attack' you when trying to reel off paper.

Some people park irresponsibly at the side entrance to the car park causing obstruction. This has resulted in some damage to the cill of my car when reversing to allow an oncoming car to enter the car park.

The attitude of some bar staff leaves something to be disired at times. Was turned away on Saturday evening whilst ordering food because they said they were too busy serving other customers in a party.

This is unsatisfactory given that I am something of a regular at the place but will think twice now before returning.

There are other equally good establishments in the area to visit serving good food with...

Visited this pub under recommendation of a work colleague, was very disappointed with the food, I got the burger, my partner her sister got the steak pie, my mother got the fish and chips and my niece got something, the chip were advertised as triple cooked, which would have meant crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, mine were hard and not triple fried, my partner and her sister left most of their main meals, the onions rings were over cooked but the cauliflower cheese was spot on, the dessert and starters were fabulous which made up for the mains & sides, all in all the pub is a lovely little place friendly staff and great service, I did notice there were 2 big parties in at the time so the kitchen may have been...
