Pretty cool experience. Myself and a few friends made the trip to Newport from around the country (Falmouth ,Southampton, London, Shrewsbury) basically to come to the home of Tiny Rebel. We had booked tables months in advance and stayed the whole evening.
Staff - Superb, really friendly and attentive, despite it being rammed the entire time we were there. The two guys running food to our table were hilarious and enjoyed their service.
Drinks - Excellent range on tap and good guest taps on, between £5-£6 a pint which is a bit steep for a breweries own taproom but didn't make me wince. Only disappointment was that there was no Pineapple Express available.
Food - Pretty cool, nice bar snacks. The battered pickles are great, the chicken burger was really tasty (buffalo sauce was maybe one of the best i've had). Was a bit disappointed with the wings - felt they were too crispy/batter was too heavy. Priced well.
Atmosphere - We spent about 2 hours outside and 4 inside. Patio is amazing, lovely ambience on a nice evening. Music was really loud under the mezzanine and made it hard to chat, it was a more manageable level in the main space, I'd suggest tweaking the levels in the mezzanine zone. Not sure if this is regular Saturday night or if it was just particularly loud in the run up to the boxing that was on, but seeing it so busy for the whole time I was there was really good to see.
My one kind of serious suggestion that I think should be taken onboard. Is TR should invest in a shuttle bus service/agreement with a local cab firm for closing time leaving. Waiting for taxis was a nightmare, saw a few wobbly people get into cars and drive off, and a few blokes square up who were accusing each other of nicking each others taxi. Could see the frustration of people waiting 40+ minutes for a cab take it's toll on people and could see how that could flare up when the wrong people clash. Not realllly a TR problem but would be a nice touch to show they're conscious of their consumers.
Overall, awesome time. If I ever to come through Newport again, I'll make it...
Read moreI just wanted to say a personal massive thank you to your staff yesterday! I was the wheelchair user in the floral dress at Rebelfest 2025 ,and I think he was the manager with silver hair and pink shirt, I didn't catch his name, but he helped me earlier on in the afternoon to put my batec attachment behind the band stage so that it would be safe and then then all staff throughout the day were amazing to be fair. From the bar staff taking the time to let me try different beers before committing to a pint of your weird and wonderful flavours to the people in the Hi viz managing the crowds outside. I didnt once feel I couldn't get through a crowd as either people or a bouncer would usher people apart for me to wheel through. Then before cardinal black came on my friends actually left leaving me on my own! I think his name was Ethan? With the Ear piece in...he reassured me that once Cardinal black were finished he would assist me to get my attachment from behind the stage and im not sure if he gave the bouncers a heads up or some sort of nod, but there seemed to be subtle eyes on me on my own so that I felt safe throughout the whole set. Honestly I've had some service in my 3 years as a wheelchair user but I've got to say I think this was hands down the best I've received. The level of acceptance your staff treated me with and the fact they made sure I was safe is unquantifiable and I cannot thank you enough! I look forward to next year and coming back soon! Accessibility is also super good and your accessible loo also clean! Please thank the staff for me especially the managers and Ethan, I think his name was, denim shirt, ear piece. Not to mention it was a bloody good afternoon with amazing DJs and bands ❤️ Also thanks to the random helpful members of the public who assisted me with carryiny my dtinks and again helping me through the crowds. 💜thank you all again x 'Wheelie'...
Read moreLovely food. Great atmosphere, brilliant music on a Saturday night. Unfortunately let down entirely by the door staff, namely... Vince (not Wayne). A number of occasions now I have witnessed this man threaten customers who from what I've seen, only seem to be enjoying a couple of beers. Last night however was a little closer to home as a friend of mine attempted a playful joke with Vince by making a reference to his lost voice, "lost your voice have you pal?" Nothing malicious, it was not meant to offend, a harmless bit of banter he believed the doorman could take. How very wrong. This was far too much for Vince's ego. He proceeded to approach us before making nasty threats to each and every one of us. We aren't trouble makers, so to be verbally abused and threatened by somebody who is meant to keep the venue safe and enjoyable for everybody was a total shock to say the least. I have attended the venue several times the past 10 months or so since opening, with friends, family members, my girlfriend and parents in-law, I know a few of the bar staff who do a wonderful job, contrary to the unprofessionalism shown by Vince the doorman. I will not be re-attending at any point during the night when he is working. My advice would be not to engage in any form of dialogue with the doormen, they aren't in any way friendly, instead on a power trip and feel they must be respected/feared at all times. I understand you need no real skill to be of large stature and stand on a door and hope to intimidate punters, however believe a certain level of competence should be displayed, as the doormen are a real shame and hindrance to what would otherwise be such a great...
