Valentine's — Restaurant in Newport

Pide – 4/5 A solid effort. The dough has that nice balance of chew and crisp, and the toppings are generous enough that you don’t feel cheated. If only the rest of the menu stayed at this level.

Lentil Soup – 1/5 Calling this “mercimek çorbası” is a crime against Turkish cuisine. This is lentil soup in the same way instant noodles are “fine dining.” If you’ve never had the real thing, you might be fooled. But if you know, you know — and you’ll regret.

Half Pounder Burger – 1/5 Two patties. Both burnt. That’s not bad luck, that’s a talent. Honestly, it’s safer for everyone if this dish just retires from the menu before it causes a scandal.

Lamb Shish – 2/5 Not terrible, but far from tender. The meat should melt in your mouth, not fight back. A good marinade could turn this around — right now it feels unfinished.

Çoban Salata (Shepherd’s Salad) – ?/5 Except, what arrived was not a Shepherd’s Salad. It was an Onion Festival. Somewhere along the line, tomatoes and parsley were cut for budget reasons, and onions staged a coup. Please rename this to “Onion Salad” so expectations don’t get betrayed.

Overall The service is warm and attentive (4/5). The food, however, doesn’t live up to its price tag (2/5). There’s potential here — you can see glimpses of it in the pide — but most of the menu feels like it needs a full kitchen...

Ordered food 2 days ago Posting this now since they didn’t even apologise however offered to send me out new food which I didn’t want anything with meat from their again I chose something else a vegetarian option they said it wasn’t the same price (it was cheaper) which I told them I didn’t mind I just wanted food which wasn’t raw they sent it out it looked a mess also. There attitude was just awful as if they thought I was just trying it on to get free food or something ? I sent the meat in a ziplock bag back to them 🤮 I ordered the lamb shawarma and ended up with this I took a few bites and this raw piece of meat was in there which isn’t even lamb? however the delivery woman was lovely and apologised on their behalf* 🤢 (Posting since they couldn’t apologise once and sent out my alternative which looked like it was just thrown in the box...

Absolutely disgraceful. I used to be a loyal customer since the day this place opened, but it has now turned into nothing short of daylight robbery. The portion sizes have been slashed to a fraction of what they used to be, while the prices have been hiked up to ridiculous levels.

To make matters worse, the food is now dry, bland, and completely lacking the quality it once had. This is no longer the Valentines it used to be; whatever charm and standard it once held has completely vanished.

The new staff clearly don’t care in the slightest, rude, unprofessional, and with no basic manners. What was once a great place has gone downhill at an alarming rate. I will never set foot in here again. Save your money and your time – AVOID THIS PLACE...
