Came in today about 11am - menu so limited. Granola , chilli eggs and traybakes , toastier , soup is the height of the lunch menu. We were wanting brunch so opted for the chilli eggs - way to much rocket on top of it and weird taste.
Dogs everywhere in small cafe - not really my scene. I had to move to window seats as a large dog came in and as tables are right beside each other I don't want a dog starring up at me the whole time.
Coffee is good but unless you are wanting coffees I wouldn't call this place a cafe at all. Menu needs expanded on - clearly there is no chef and everything is prepared before. I don't go to a cafe for this reason..I could of just bought granola in a supermarket.
I went to till to pay for order - there was women in front who ordered coffees - no waiter came over to us to pay so I had to ask guy doing coffee's can we pay ? Why should we have to wait for the line of coffee orders for take away when we sat inside?
I got the receipt and they charge 20% vat on coffees - but not on food items - this is illegal and should be 20% off the total bill.
Door opens all the time - today was windy and cold day so when customers don't close it which is every 5 mins you are eating the eggs in...
Read moreWhat a wonderful find this beautiful little vegetarian/ vegan cafe was. We had spotted it a few times from the sea front and today was the perfect time to pop in and see what there was to offer and wow so glad we did, 3 of us all had the Lentil and Coconut broth with toasted sourdough which made this soup even more delicious. Accompanied by a tea, a green tea and a hot chocolate, we all enjoyed the food and drink and cannot wait to visit again. The staff were excellent very polite, helpful, friendly and welcoming, All of their bread, cakes, scones etc are freshly made on site in their own bakery which is amazing, taking home a few cakes to try which i have to say we're delicious, Something else that will make our next visit even better is that dogs are allowed in too. We are definitely going to make Birch our main go to cafe in Newcastle and I urge everyone give it a try whether you are vegan vegetarian or not this is a...
Read moreCalled into Newcastle to just take in some fresh air came across this place. Not knowing it was vegan and vegetarian we went inside the beautiful little bistro style restaurant. Having never had anything other than the normal fish and chips and seaside foods. we were absolutely thrilled with everything that we ordered. We had a combo of white bean soup with chilli oil and a sourdough caramelised onion and cheddar toasty. When I say this was thee most delicious meal we've had in years I mean it was fabulous. Every morsel was consumed every person loved what they ordered. I always seem to have to add a litte salt when we dine out (just my preference) it never even occurred to me about the salt or pepper... the saff were amazing service was fabulous and the bill ? All 5 of us ate for less than £50. This was absolute culinary magic and it has changed the way we see vegan and vegetarian restaurants we will definitely...
