Asked for the toilet and was escorted down a corridor away from the restaurant and handed a bog roll and asked to return it. Touching a dirty bogroll after washing my hands is poor hygiene practise. The toilet was disgustingly dirty, along with the walls being dirty and full of spider webs.
The waitress could barely understand English at all. She muttered things while looking away without directing her voice to us (so weird). Her finger tips were a dark yellow and dirty under her nails..... 🤢. This is one very worrying situation when you see someone who handles food and money have such mega bad personal hygiene!! I could have nearly got up and walked out with my family if I was not so damn hungry!!!!
The meat was very very very dry and hard, hince it has been stored multiple times over days and been reheated in a microwave. They probably have next to no food hygiene certificate, from the chefs to the server. I would not be surprised if they stored food in the most horrifying terms. I don't think I would like to take a good look at their kitchen as I got one glimpse before I left and the walls looked very dirty from 30m away..... They need to be inspected/audited.
I ordered the Naga chili curry and it was very mild but was told it was hotter than the phal by the waitress. I am a big spice buff but I was very much let down once again and made to renege on trying out this dark gloomy looking restaurant. This place was so dated looking and smelt like an old people's home....
I love Indian food, but this place is a joke that just ain't funny.

Read moreNice experience and decent food. Went here on the 11th of August 2025 as a party of 4 when visiting Newcastle. Nice gentleman seated us and took a drink order, seemed friendly and polite. Drinks arrived now time for food. I opted for the mix starter and the others for the Chicken Pakora. My mix starter was delicious , lovely and full of flavours. The rest of the party the Pakora was very nice indeed and a decent portion. For the mains, 1 Lamb Pathia for me , 2 Buttered Chicken and 1 Shashik Bhuna, Rice , Chips and a few Naans. A short time later and the foods arrives all looks very tasty. I know a lot of Indian Restaurants cooks their food differently but I loved this version of the Pathia, sweet and savory , chunky sauce and tender pieces of lamb , I really enjoyed it. The Bhuna I am told was lovely and again was well enjoyed. The only thing that seemed not to be right was the Buttered Chicken, 2 of the party had buttered chicken and they both said it was not buttered chicken but Chicken Korma with butter!. It did look to me like Korma and when I took a taste it also tasted like a Korma. There was nothing wrong with it, it tasted nice, but just not Buttered Chicken. Maybe that is their version of Butter Chicken, but all round...
Read moreThe worst Indian food I have ever tasted—it's a disgrace to call it Indian food. I placed a takeaway order worth over £60, and the person tried to avoid giving me the free Coke or wine that was clearly mentioned on the menu for orders above £49. I had to point it out myself to get it. The food was absolutely terrible—just full of artificial colors and bland sauces. The chicken was overcooked, lacked flavor, and had no authenticity. To make matters worse, all the curries contained the same grilled chicken tikka pieces, which is far from traditional Indian cooking. Overall, the food was disgusting and nowhere close to real Indian cuisine. I'm writing this review about Balti Indian Takeaway to share my...
