Murphys Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Newry, Mourne and Down District Council

We went to Murphys Bar Downpatrick on 09/08/2021 for a special birthday dinner for our son, there was 4 of us in total, I have to say the service was amazing, we had drinks, a main each, a dessert each, tea and cappuccinos too.

Our son the birthday boy had the curry, he said it was really creamy and he could have ate it again.

Our daughter had the wrap, complete with side salad including sundried tomato’s, she loved it, and the chips too!

My wife had the steak sandwich with chips, she loved it too.

I had a 10oz sirloin, French fried onion, mushrooms and chips, quantity, quality and flavour of all of our chips was first class, loved the mushrooms and FFO, whatever way the sirloin was cooked was great, the flavour outstanding, I really did enjoy it, the best steak I’ve had in a very long time, only criticism I would have is the steak was not rested long enough as it did leak on the plate a little.

We had profiteroles and hot chocolate fudge cake for our desserts, all first class.

We would definitely recommend Murphys and we will definitely return for another meal. 9/10 I’m deducting- point just because the steak did leak on my plate, other than that it...

Attended a 21st birthday party here on Saturday night. We arrived arround 8:30pm and, as usual the bar & restaurant was very lively. The birthday party was in a separate function room out to the rear of the establishment. The room was very well equipped with all the modern gadgets including photo set ..The food was self service & there was an excellent variety of food on hand ,which was routinely topped up for the period set aside. The music & entertainment suited the occasion & everyone in attendance throughly enjoyed well managed event. The bar staff were kept very busy, & managed to keep all of the waiting customers visit for drinks to as brief as possible. All in all a wonderful night's experience and once again a real success for the management and staff of this very popular traditional Irish bar & restaurant.. We had our wedding at Murphys, and we truly couldn't be happier. What they managed to pull off in just three weeks was nothing short of miraculous! Due to some unfortunate news, we suddenly found ourselves needing to organise our entire wedding in an incredibly tight timeframe.

From our very first panicked phone call, the entire team and especially Ryan and Michelle, was absolutely fantastic. They were calm, incredibly organised, and guided us through every step; they made it seem effortless.

The venue itself was beautiful on the day, creating the perfect calm atmosphere we needed. But it was the dedication and professionalism of the staff that truly stood out. The amount of compliments we have had about the day is overwhelming!
