We visited today for the first time. Just walked past and looked inside and saw the fish and chips. They look amazing so we ordered some. I know good fish and chips coming from Yorkshire. We eat them outside at the table. Opened the box, first impressions were excellent. Batter on the fish was cooked perfectly, nice and crispy, not greasy. Chips were not greasy and cooked perfectly. Enjoyed thrm very much. Have looked at the menu and lots to chose from so we'll be back. Staff were excellent, polite and helpful. It's a great discovery for us. Looking forward to going back. Disappointing is not a word I thought I would apply to this place but when you charge what they do for their fare, you'd better be on the ball all the time. I watched from outside as my order was boxed and bagged and then left on an unheated counter for at least 5 minutes until the backlog of customer orders were taken. I wasn't surprised that it was cold when I got it home. There were onions that were so thin, the batter on them had crumbled. The chips were described as chunky but we're more like scraps. Tried Squid Shack for the first time on Friday evening...... Firstly, I was blown away by the friendliness of the staff. We'd ordered our food but weren't aware that they only accept cash and only had apple pay with us. We apologised and asked to cancel our order.... but they wouldn't hear of it and said.... that they wouldn't let us go hungry and that we could drop the money in when we were next passing..... Wow.
