All the tables are outside due to COVID but the weather has been amazing so that's just fine. There is a large tent like covered area but we got a table in the uncovered area after about 15 minutes despite being told it would be around 40 minutes - so again happy with that. We had plenty of time to decide what we wanted whilst waiting so ordered from the lady who showed us to our table. Drinks turned up within a couple of minutes and food turned up within 10 minutes. Menu is burgers, pizza and nachos - good old pub grub. I had vegetarian pizza and my wife had chicken stack burger. It was very nice and we will go back again if the weather stays good. We went back a few days later with others so we had a party of 5 and sis it all again. I had the large beef nachos this time which really is very large. The chicken stack is definitely the favourite within our group. Like last time we didn't wait long. The person who showed us didn't take our order and we waited for someone else to come and do that. Like last time we didn't wait long and the whole experience was very good. The food, although just the pub favourites, was very good and we left very full...

After a great day surfing at Croyde bay, the group decided to visit Billy Budds for tea. This pub restaurant is sat right on the village main road and is surrounded by surf shops, gift shops, and other food outlets. Billy Budds also shares a garden terrace with another restaurant. We visited on a Saturday afternoon on a peak surfing day and we found space to sit easily. Being served at the bar took moments, and food ordering was simple too. We didn't wait long for food to arrive either, which again was quite impressive considering how busy they were. The food was very tasty and a healthy size portion was served up. We sat outside on the terrace, but inside was actually roomy and full of nooks. There was also a pool table and multiple TVs to watch sport on. Pretty laid back atmosphere here and dog friendly. There is also enough room for wheelchair users and disabled toilets are available, as is a baby changing area. All in all, a pleasurable experience. Staff were helpful, polite...

Second visit of the weekend…. Staff are really friendly and welcoming great food with quick service great range of drinks. But when we asked for sky sports news to be put on the tv they didn’t care and just said well do it in a min then we are told they are not licensed to show it but when we first walked in to the pub they had it on all the tvs. Second time we asked, Apparently the barmen/maids don’t know how to change a tv channel over, I wouldn’t want to watch the tv in their house watching one channel 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Then we finish our food and drinks and are about to leave guess what they suddenly Change the channel over. Appalled at this. Lying to customers is never good.

On a separate occasion we asked at the bar for a hot chocolate and we are sent to the thatch next door because there coffee machine isn’t working but customers have one on the table next to...

Spent my stag weekend in Croyde (respectful, non traditional stag) which wouldn’t have been the same without this pub. Ive always come during the winter months but not in summer for a while. The investment and change is amazing, from the DJ set in the tipi (the picture shown was the start), to the cracking atmosphere from midday until close. As is with the best establishments, it’s the staff that really make it. Billy Budds being no exception. Not just good at their jobs, they seemed genuinely happy serving us, having a bit of banter, it really makes a nice vibe. Special thanks to Millie and Holly behind the bar, both a couple of legends. Kept the drinks coming, had a laugh with us. Whoever’s running the gaff, pay them more. 5 starts.

Excellent service. Generous portions. Nice atmosphere in a sympathetically decorated interior. Fast service though we did visit during a quiet spot in April. A reasonable selection of beers though nothing local as there don't seem to be many microbreweries in this part of the country. The food prices appear to be a little high until you see the size of the portions. They're big. The photos don't do the dishes justice as the baskets are quite deep. Staff kindly produced pizzas boxes for us to take away. Extremely friendly staff too.
