Broadland Fish & Chips — Restaurant in North Norfolk

Been to many fish and chip shops in the area. I have to say that Broadland Fish and Chips are in my opinion the best. It is a small takeaway, so doesn't offer eating in, there are a couple of seats inside to use whilst you wait. Competitively priced, if you want special requests such as Rock or Cod Roe, larger portions, etc, just ask the fryer at the far end of the shop and they will cook to order. Friendly staff, they are busy people so will serve you, take your payment, (they take Cash, Credit/Debit card). You can then wait in the shop or outside for your order which is prepared fairly quickly. Obviously Large Cod, etc is cooked to order so bear that in mind. It does get quite busy, which shows it must be good! If you know where to look, there are places nearby to eat, beaches and other places, or take it home and enjoy it. It's a fish and chip shop, fish and chips are a takeaway food in my opinion anyway. The fish is tasty, juicy, plump and just the right sweetness - just as it should be. Golden batter with a nice crunch. Good sized portion of chips, nice and firm - not your soggy ones that some other places do. All steaming hot, all cooked fresh. We only go here now for our fish and chips and are always full and satisfied after. Well done Broadland...

Waited in a queue for about 10 mins. Assumed it was because food would be amazing as the queues were well out the door. When I ordered I was tutted at for having not pre ordered an item as I walked in (no signs stating this). Was then told to wait out side and my food would be brought to the collection point. I asked for everything to be left open as we were going to sit on a bench just down the road. They shouted my order and it was wrapped. No salt and vinegar and not asked if we wanted any. The chips were dry and very brown. The kids didn't want them. I ended up walking to the local shop and buying a cheap bottle of ketchup to put on them. Small portions and over priced. Not impressed. Only given a 3 as the cheese and onion croquet I ordered was lovely and fresh and hot. Not over priced. The staff in general were polite and efficient, just not the lady who served me who was too Interested in talking to the lady before me...

We had haddock (for my wife) and cod (for me), each with chips and some mushy peas. The peas were good. The haddock was good - cooked to order of course. My wife always removes the batter but it didn't look too bad. The cod was the worst I've had, possibly ever. The fish was dry the batter overly plentiful and the two together massively over cooked and then kept warm. The staff were a bit disorganised over the haddock and the cod and I nearly had to wait even longer for the next batch of cod. The place was busy enough to keep the food turning over, so that cod shouldn't have had to wait long after being cooked. Whilst the haddock was fine they should not have allowed that cod to leave the premises, but they did and that completely overwhelms the haddock being fine. So 1 star and a suggestion to try a different business. We'll try...
