We are new to the area and told to try this restaurant. Wish we hadn't. Don't get me wrong about this review, the food was tasty, although we've had better, there was plenty of meat in the curries and spices were ok. The problem was the service. We were asked if we would like a drink when we first went in, fine, we ordered two ciders. Didn't realise at time of ordering that it worked out at £9.80 a pint, WOW. We were given the menus to look at, all the time the waiter was hovering over us awaiting our order. Had the usual poppadoms to start, followed by onion bhaji then a jalfrezi. Poppadoms arrived very quickly, shortly to be followed by our starter, the waiter had to move our poppadoms to serve our starter. So we either finished our starter while it was hot or, finished our poppadoms and let the starter go cold!!!!! Obviously we opted for the first choice. All the while the waiter was hovering over us and checking to see if they were expecting any other customers through the door behind us. This was now becoming off putting. No sooner had they cleared away the starter plates, along came a trolley with the waiter and a portable gas stove in tow. He then proceeded to serve our naans and rice, then lit the camping stove to reheat our curries at the table, all the while letting our other food go cold, I haven't a clue why they do this, surely they should cook the curries and have them served fresh as soon as there cooked???? I couldn't believe it when the waiter came over and asked us if he could clear the plates away WHILE WE WERE STILL EATING!!!! This was now the last straw. I then proceeded to explain to the waiter how uncomfortable we have been made by the constant hovering over us and the fact that he didn't even let us finish our meal before asking to clear away the dishes. He apologised and left us to finish. He came back to clear the plates and apologised again about rushing us, then proceeded to remove the table cloth from under our noses to set up for the next customer as if to take the p*ss. When I asked to see the manager and explained to him, he also apologised and said he would refund the cost of the poppadoms as we were rushed. This treatment I could understand, but not apreciate if the restaurant was busy. This was on a Thursday evening at 5.30pm and there were only another 4 diners in the place who didn't have a hovering waiter. So as tasty as the food was, we won't be returning. Especially at...
Read moreOur meal this evening. Surprisingly the service wasn't good. We'd booked a table and were seated and then ignored. Order taken for poppadoms but not for anything else. Subsequently when they realised...we were asked for our order while eating poppadoms! Not ideal. Then we had a very very long wait for our meals to arrive. I should add that the restaurant wasn't overly busy... another 15 people already eating when we arrived. There were a lot of staff on duty. Food was ok although some of us thought the flavours weren't as good as they've been previously. Saag paneer was overcooked and our onion bhajis were burnt. No one ever came to ask us if everything was ok. Plates were taken away, hot towels appeared by magic...which was the highlight of the evening....and again we were left. Then not one but two waiters about 5 minutes apart came and waved a solitary dessert menu at us. We declined and after another 10 minutes I had to ask for the bill. Which upon reflection was probably overpriced for the evening we'd had. Shame as we've eaten here previously...but tonight they weren't...
Read moreQuite smart restaurant on first sight.
We booked a table for 7pm several hours before arrival but had to wait for a few minutes prior to being seated.
We ordered the Sunday Indian buffet.
The website told us we could only use our table for a maximum of 1 hour and 15 mins.
Food choice was somewhat limited, with no option for papadams or onion bhajis.
Generally the food was ok, but not notable. Price in menu (£17.95) and on thier website was out of date for a Sunday buffet, actual price was £19.95 each!
The tablecloths were being removed from our before we left or paid the bill, also before the desert menu was brought to our table too. There were at least half the other tables empty at 8:10pm. This seemed to be happening for other customers too
Overall, for the quality of food, we felt the meal a little overpriced.
Brand leader soft drinks came in small glass bottles (330ml) and were priced...
