APPALLING. DISGUSTING. AVOID AVOID AVOID
Update. The management did reply to my review which showed exactly the level of unprofessional individual who runs this establishment. However when I updated my review to point out how unprofessional and childish they were with the response they removed it. The response was the sort of thing you would expect from a spoilt brat who was having a temper tantrum. Furthermore the inability to be honest and truthful speaks volumes and I quote, "The other 88 people in this venue that evening all said," Really?! Did you go to the trouble of speaking to each and every other person there that evening? NO! Clearly just a childish response from an immature unprofessional person. Furthermore, saying I was to "never ever ever ever ever go back," Yes really, does show the mentality of this owner. Why after this experience they think I'd even consider going back is beyond me 🤔
Arrived at 6.45 for a drink and a meal.
First issue was that we had a dog. Signs outside say dogs are welcome but once inside we were told we would have to sit in the bar area and not in the restaurant area. That's not a problem, however there was a couple actually sitting in the restaurant with their dog. Turned out these are local people. Next if your sat in the bar area you have go to the bar to order and then pay when you order, no waitress service, fair enough, however a little while later another couple came in with 2 dogs, again locals and although they were sitting in the bar area they were allowed waitress service and to settle their bill at the end.
So we got drinks, sat down and decided on our starters and main meals. Up to the bar to order, that was 7.15pm. At 8pm we were still waiting for the starters. Going up to the bar to complain the girl behind the bar decided it was perfectly ok to lecture me because I wasn't happy and inform me how she'd had many compliments all evening. Obviously from locals then. At this point a man came up to the bar to order his food, another local, his meal arrived within 20 minutes.
By this point there's certainly a feeling of being treated like a second rate citizen. (Was under the impression discrimination was a thing of the past, Not here)
When our food finally arrived one of the dishes was wrong, ordered mushrooms, got chicken 🙄 Back to the bar. Same girl with somewhat sarcastic attitude suddenly can't find the order she wrote to be able to check, after disappearing out into the kitchen for several minutes she reappears with a re-written order with the chicken, not mushrooms. How do I know she re wrote it, - because it was in a different order to the original order I gave her.
The remainder of the food was rather bland and not particularly warm, begs the question why we waited so long, normally a long wait means foods being cooked and brought straight out, so usually piping hot.
Conclusion - if you're a local you're fine. If you're one of the 1000s of holiday makers that visit the Norfolk Broads each year then you may well receive a second rate service and possibly be discriminated against.
After leaving and looking at the pub/restaurant details it turns out they only have a 3 star rating so definitely not as good as they'd have you believe.
Add on note: Since writing my review I have taken the time to read other reviews and also the management responses. Clearly the owner/manager has no idea of customer service. Any review which raised issues which people had with the service/food/venue were met with replies which were at best unprofessional, at worst confrontational. It's never good business practice to defend poor, inexperienced staff, bad service and below average produce by confronting, insulting and being rude to a customer just because you don't like what they are saying. Maybe it isn't just the staff which...
Read moreNot able to review in full as we didn't stay in the restaurant very long, but our first experience visiting here did not go to plan, as unfortunately despite having a separate full pizza menu they did not have any pizza dough! It would have been nice if they had done the decent thing and messaged me on Facebook (which is where I booked the table) earlier in the day to make us aware and ask us if we still wanted to visit. We were also not made aware of them not having any pizzas available on arrival; instead we were left to wander round the restaurant aimlessly looking for the pizza menu. I could understand if they just had one pizza on the menu and that was unavailable, but this is an entire separate pizza menu they were completely missing! I understand it was mothers day the previous day so they may have sold a lot of pizza then, but they should have anticipated this might be the case and made sure they had sufficient stock to cover this period. There was also no status update on the their FB page to say pizzas were unavailable. However upon looking at other reviews of this place,it would seem that this is a somewhat common occurrence that pizzas just aren't available some of the time without warning, despite having a pizza menu on the website and a big poster outside the restaurant adverting them. I personally don't understand this way of running a business. We did not want to choose anything else as we had been set on having pizza and planned other meals on our holiday around this. In the end we left without ordering anything and instead went to Pizza Hut in Great Yarmouth which was fantastic! I also took a look at the cake/dessert cabinet whilst in Norada and whilst the items looked nice nothing was labelled up properly. Some of the labels did not match the item it was next to and there were items in there which had no labels at all. They also did not match the dessert menu at all, so I am left feeling confused as to whether the cake cabinet is separate to their online dessert menu, or whether the online dessert menu is actually outdated/unavailable and have not been updated on the website? Very confusing. They seemed very casual about my booking too, I booked in via Facebook but they didn't take a contact number despite me asking if they needed to take one, and when we arrived and I said I had a table booking they didn't ask for my name/time of booking and instead just said sit wherever. The restaurant looked very nice, but the experience was disappointing and I am in 2 minds about whether to give them another chance and try again in the future or not. Just a little bit of communication would have gone a long way here. You will see from my account that I leave reviews for places all the times which range between negative to positive and are based on genuine experiences, so I am not someone who only leaves negative reviews and don't ever give praise, quite the opposite! However this was genuinely a very negative and disappointing experience for us and does not fill me with much hope that another visit would be any better as I don't feel confident that they always have...
Read moreHaving booked to have Sunday lunch at midday to enable my family to return back home to Essex at a reasonable early time . There were six of us in our party and we were disappointed on several points .
The service was very poor due to untrained waiting staff , and when we did eventually get our meals after a hour wait the first meal to arrive was fish and chips ,for one person, but sadly the cutlery arrived ten minutes later , and the person who had this meal sat for ten minutes looking at his fish and chips lunch going cold
The other five of us had Sunday Roast which turned up at random intervals one waitress carrying the plates , another waitress bringing the cutlery along sometime later ( three sets were placed on the table and again there were two of us unable to eat our meals , This problem was solved after about another ten minutes when we went inside and requested two more sets of knives and forks please .
Ten minutes into the meal a waitress brought another two Yorkshire puddings on a saucer that had been notably missing from one of the meals . We had donated ours by this time .
On a positive , the outside location was brilliant and the young untrained staff we’re doing there best .
We left as soon as we could ( we hadn’t planned on spending all afternoon here ) and having had just one drink each about an hour before the lunch was served , which was promptly ordered with the drinks . . We had just the one main meal each but sadly it took well over two hours to be served and to eat .
Having now read the reviews, ( which there are many good ones ) which are always acknowledged as being honest and fair . The negative reviews ( which there are also many ) don’t seem to to be considered as constructive criticism that may politely suggest how it may improve their business.
We wish this venue every success , and AS A LOCAL RESIDENT who also regularly uses numerous other eateries each week all year round , in and around the broads area . it needs in this establishment something for its regulars to use not just the summer holiday makers .
As for the price , I couldn’t comment as the meals and drinks were paid for us...
