Café La Verne — Restaurant in North Tyneside

Discovered this gem around a year ago and have been going since when I can. I became obsessed with the banoffee hot chocolate when they had that in stock, and they’ve recently started doing matcha - it is one of the best matcha lattes i’ve ever had they are honestly delicious. The best thing is when they have the red velvet cheesecake in, definitely the best cheesecake i’ve ever had. They make delicious drinks and offer lovely sweet treats, and the food is also great (I love a sun-dried tomato, mozzarella and pesto panini!). Even when the wait time is a bit longer for food it is totally worth it and completely understandable - having worked in an independent cafe myself I understand how quickly things can change up, so please be patient and kind to all customer service staff! From my experience the staff in here are always lovely, and the vibes/atmosphere is really calming and this cafe has became a safe and calming space for me to visit. Popped in to this place as I'd dropped my wife off for an appointment and had some time to kill. Didn't expect much at all, so was very pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem. I enjoyed a very well cooked bacon and egg sandwich, using high quality ingredients and carefully seasoned with pepper in a lightly toasted bread roll. My coffee was excellent, a good blend roasted well and served hot. The service was very friendly and attentive. The decor was distinctive and there were books provided on an honesty swap basis. It was busy but not overcrowded and the atmosphere was friendly and lively. I'll definitely go out of my way to visit this...

Great little rustic cafe with a good ambiance

There is a very good selection of drinks, which range from coffee, tea, hot chocolate etc

There is also a good selection of food and cakes

Food and drinks are reasonably priced

Coffee tastes good and the food was great, seemingly good quality, well cooked and seasoned

Little small inside but it adds to the atmosphere, there is seating outside for when the weather is good
