The Black Horse Monkseaton — Restaurant in North Tyneside

This pub has been transformed since the new owners took over. I have been several times mostly for Sunday dinner and I was there yesterday with visiting relatives. I had the Belly Pork - tremendous, my wife had the Chicken Supreme and she loved it, Sister in Law had the Veg Pie and she thought it was brilliant.

Excellent food at a very reasonable price and very rare that kids eat for free (I don’t really like to pay £7/8 for kids meals, particularly when my child rarely actually eats much!)

Service with a smile throughout and even gave us a refund for one of the deserts as the person didn’t have their first choice as they had run out and wasn’t too keen on the replacement (which I ate and loved).

Despite the substantial investment from craft union / stone gate : the bar staff need to PUT THEIR PHONES AWAY - and serve the customers stood waiting at the bar. 20th March Evening. Manager weak as water and young lad behind the bar needs to look like he’s at work not plugged into his phone. Sat on his backside on the back bar!!! You’re here to serve for the benefit of your customers not to do what’s best and easiest for you. Won’t be back to yet another generic managed house with poor disengaged poorly trained management and staff. I wonder if the people above you realise what waste of money they’re...

This is a lovely friendly pub...while staying in West Monkseaton...just a 5 minute walk away I was greeted by the friendly landlord and his wife and several of their customers...I go and stay in West Monkseaton regularly as I have 2 young grandchildren who live there...I was there for my youngest grandsons second birthday and had a wonderful time..I went to Tynemouth which has a wonderful Priory .The beaches up there are unspoiled and the Italian restaurants are so cheap compared...
