We had a lovely trip to the lakes on a Saturday which was fine except parking was a nightmare especially with it being a lovely sunny day, there was thousands of visitors so we did the sightseeing first and then some retail therapy before going into the Ship at Bowness for a long overdue meal. It has been here for years and is a regular attraction for many I'm sure. Lovely decor, friendly staff and a kiddys play area all make for a good start. I had a roast turkey roast which was absolutely delicious, with a good selection of vegetables which weren't overcooked, some may find them a little on the hard side especially the carrots but for me they were just right. Quality was spot on and so was the quantity. My wife and daughter had fish and chips and it was here that it fell somewhat short of very good. The plates came with a greaseproof paper which looks like a newspaper no doubt to add some authenticity to the dish, however both meals were racked in grease and it appeared to 'float' on this paper. Not enjoyable was the verdict for the fish and chips. If you go and want this l would ask for any grease to be drained off before it leaves the kitchen. My daughters boyfriend had a curry which he enjoyed. So there we have it two thouraghly enjoyed their meals...

Few beers were off when we were there which was a little disappointing, but had a pizza that was pretty tasty and staff were really helpful.
Big group of us there and there was also a party on outside, staff again were more than accommodating.
