Update September 2022: Twice now we've came here and food hasn't been on, once in the middle of day and most recently today at about 8:15pm, even though the site states the kitchen shuts at 9pm. The way the member of staff came over and told us was as if it was our fault and we should of known, when we explained we checked on the website before we even left the house her reply was just "We haven't had a chance to update it" no apologies or anything, even though the sites just been updated with the new menu.
Was a shame because this used to be our favourite restaurant and we were keen to try the new menu, and as you can see from my previous review the staff used to be very good. I'm hoping this gets sorted so I can return the review back to 5 stars, because we really used to enjoy it here.
Original review December 2021:
Been coming here regularly for a good few years now. It's always clean and well looked after. Big screen projectors for sports and also booths with TVs for if you bring children, there's also a children's play park attached to the back with tables and chairs out there too. The quality of food has always been high especially for the price, however recently all hungry horses have had a menu change, whilst I'm not a massive fan of the new menu, the quality of the food hasn't gone down, the chef's are still putting in the work, I just don't like alot of the choices on the menu now, but that's most likely down to personal preference, you might love it.
As mentioned earlier the price is great, and you get alot, there's also deals on different days which makes it even more affordable, these are Steak Monday, Big Plate Tuesday, Curry Wednesday, free starter or dessert on Thursday, buy one get one free Burgers on a Friday, Big Plate super specials on a Saturday and 2 roasts for a tenner on Sundays.
Like most pubs you pay when you order so no need to wait around for the waiting staff to notice you've finished before you get the bill, they accept discount cards such as Blue light card and defence discount cards and maybe a few more that I'm unaware of.
The staff are all great, really friendly and always make sure you're alright.
So in summary, a great place for going out for some food with family without breaking the bank and also a great pub if you fancy going out for a few drinks...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSecond visit here today (Saturday) with the partner, our son and my parents. Food was lovely, atmosphere great and service excellent. Really like this pub.
Visited here this afternoon (Sunday) with my partner and our 4 month old son, and my parents. It's a big pub, with plenty of dining tables. The selection of food on the menu is great, with many choices to suit all tastes. I noticed they also do takeaway pizza too! My parents and I had the large chicken Sunday roast, which really was large, all served in a giant Yorkshire pudding. Very nice, and plenty of chicken. My partner had the large mixed grill, which she also really enjoyed.
The only real ale they serve is Green King IPA, which was kept beautifully, and which I had several pints of. It would have been good to see a selection of real ales on draught, rather than just the one. They did serve a craft beer called Ice Breaker, also brewed by Green King, but unfortunately they didn't have it on when we were there. They also have bottles of Blue Moon and Brew Dog Punk IPA which was nice to see.
I downloaded the Green King app in advance of going to the pub, which allows you to order table service food and drink. Ordering through the app was excellent, and saved having to queue.
The service from the waiting staff was good, and the atmosphere in the pub was fine. Quite quiet for a Sunday I thought. There was quite a few others with young kids, which was nice to see. There's quite a large playing area just outside the pub which looked good for older kids.
All in all, we had a great meal, our table that we pre-booked had its reserved sign on it, which was good to see, and the service and ordering through the app was great.
One star lost due to requesting a booth table via email, which we did not get, and also for not having more cask ales on draught.
All in all though, a great experience at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy girlfriend and thought it would be a nice treat to come and get some food here this Saturday at around 3pm. We walked in and sat ourselves down as instructed by the sign. After about 10 minutes we found ourselves ready to order some food and a drink of coke. I only had cash on my person so ordering at the bar was the only option. As I approached the bar, I was not greeted nor felt welcomed by any staff. Before I could even speak I was asked if I had any ID. I explained I didnāt have any as I was just wanting some food no alcohol as it was the middle of the afternoon, (didnāt think Iād have that issue as I am 22 years old with visible tattoos) The young man then decided to Rudely interrupt me and ask if I was over 18, to which I replied telling him my age. Although I had calmly and politely responded to his questions he was extremely rude and nasty about the situation and told me he would not be serving me. I then returned to my seat to tell my girlfriend about the situation when, (not even 30 seconds later) A older blonde woman approached us asking for our ID, and told us we would not be allowed to stay if we didnt have any. My girlfriend handed her her ID, the woman then left without saying anything. After that experience we both decided we didnāt want to stay at all because we felt completely uncomfortable and unwanted almost as if we were being targeted by the staff. I have never ever been treat in such a way anywhere in my life. Truly disgusted, sort...
