If you want to sit in a completely unhygienic environment that smells of fried food and going to the toilet is an adventure, come here. Not one seat did NOT have food on either the floor, the seat, or both. About half the tables still had all the dishes from the previous service, and no one appeared to have any intention of cleaning up. Interestingly, at the time we were there (3pm on a Saturday), there were only 6 others tables with people at them (approx 25% capacity) yet we went here because the coffee shop immediately next door was completely full of customers. I wonder why. Toilets, what an adventure. I felt I was in an episode of Mr Benn. You walk through a doorway that says 'toilet', and you are immediately in the middle of a ladies' clothes shop. There is no further signage for toilets after that, so I had to go back and ask. You go through the ladies clothing, up 2 flights of stairs, and then enter a 7 digit code to get into a toilet (which of course was disgusting and had no toilet paper) with no apparent way of locking the door from the inside. Seriously, what on earth. That said, the food was okay, and the coffee was nice, but it's not worth the hassle as not at all relaxing. Staff seem friendly enough, but there is really no urgency to keep anything spotless, which makes you doubt the food hygiene. Disappointed.

edit: down from 4* to 1*, two days later and definitely have some form of food poisoning from this place. really not having a good time right now with the side effects and it sucks because the food was quite yummy. went in today for a quick bite to eat before an appointment and the food was honestly really good and the portions were well big. unfortunately didn't agree with my tummy too much after a few hours and felt a good bit ill the next few hours and the first fork i noticed in the cutlery holder was dirty with old food, but little things like that happen at times and the rest of the place seemed quite clean so not bothered too much :)

Great to have somewhere like this in the town. An extensive menu means surely there must be something for everyone. The are plenty of sharing platters and great burger options too. The only minus, if there is one, is the scones are quite poor but the coffee is full bodied and staff are quite pleasant. One rainy Friday morning we called in for coffee which was very nice and here's something fun and quirky to do. Try and get a seat below or facing the big world map and try to find the incorrect spelling of some countries. In the short time I was there I spotted 8 in total but you may find more. Good hunting !

Waited 45mins for 2 so called BLT club sandwiches made out off Focaccia bread which was either fried or but on top of a hot plate toated with oil tasted more like a fried pan bread ,with Southern fried battered chicken sliced in half, fatty bacon over cooked chips,to be honest worse food we have had totally disgusting, not one of the staff came over to ask us did we get are meal as yet, if wasn't for a man who decided to help out by cleaning tables, emptying bins etc and whose daughter was actually working on site asking us had we been served are food as yet we would of still have been waiting, young girls were standing in the hall looking at their mobile phones, we heard another customer saying if she hadn't paid for her food she would of walked out,for customers to wait 45 mins for a few handful of over cooked chips, side salad and 2 coffees and be charged £30 for pure tasteless plate off food disgrace,I can walk into Greggs buy 2 sandwiches plus 2 coffees for near 3rd of the price. Who ever owns Bob's & Berts needs to wake up and smell their own...
