Bob & Berts Portrush — Restaurant in Northern Ireland

Feeling ripped off. If you fancy a good coffee and something small, then no problem. But today I went for breakfast and was very disappointed. From the bossy waitress to the massively overpriced smashed avocado breakfast, I will not be visiting this cafe again. Poached eggs were cooked to perfection but got lost in the swimming pool of hollandaise sauce. They cleverly smash the avocado to hide the fact that they give you so little of it. And the cheek to ask for another £1 for a half a piece of cheap soda bread, just so you could actually finish your meal. £6.95 and you get half a soda, bread to eat 2 eggs, tiny bit of avocado and lots of sauce. I spent nearly £30 and the waitress had no manners to even say thank you and enjoy your day. In fact I found her extremely rude, demanding I wait on my coffees at the side even though she seen I was there with a toddler. Also next to no plexiglass, for the safety of their workers. Local cafes have done better to protect people and certainly would deliver some level of customer service. My advice save your money and visit somewhere who appreciates...

At the till, the girl serving seemed very unhappy and was frustrated with the lady in front of me when she asked for a mug for her tea rather than a cup. I ordered loaded fries and was at the toilet when they arrived. I had been given the wrong ones so I brought the bowl up to a member of staff near the kitchen hatch who was dismissive and said they’d sort it. I sat back down and noticed there was a food preparation label in my food. I went up again to let them know. The lady took the bowl off me and asked what I’d ordered and said she’d sort it. She didn’t apologise and acted like I was inconveniencing her. Eventually the correct food did arrive and the waitress did apologise and refund me the money which I was very grateful for. She made some comment about not knowing what was going on up there (I guess with staff behind the counter?) and that it was a crazy day. STAFF NOT VERY WELCOMING...

Called in for a light lunch and the place very busy but it was a Saturday, lots of staff but very happy to stand and talk to each other and not really interact with customers but we ate...food was good and we went on our way

BUT...called next the morning for breakfast and the staff behind counter should have stayed in bed..her face just said she had no want or desire to be working..no eye contact, no good morning, no please or thankyou..obviously not a good morning for that member of staff but having worked in hospitality for years I was taught to leave everything at the door when you walk into work..unpleasant staff will stop people returning...that being said we were then brought out food by the manager with blonde hair who had a lovely attitude, smiling and making conversation..i think maybe she needs to rub off on the lady taking orders and a few other members of staff who just looked like they need to...
