I was expecting 'more', I don't know why? It's an historic building, in a fantastic spot, but essentially, it's just a coffee shop and a little devoid of the spirit in which it evokes.
Had a cheese and ham panini, along with a coffee. Coffee, fine, nothing memorable about it, though, when we said we'd enjoy it outside in their seating area, my ceramic cup was swapped out for a paper one. Then, when my panini arrived, it was on a ceramic plate? Made no sense.
The panini was a joke, a sliver of ham at the front, and a war time ration of cheese. For the price, I'd have expected something more substantial, but no, the war time spirit is what they're going for....
Read moreChose this Cafe because of its outdoor tables and cloee proximity to the beach but there was only 1 table left as they allowed people who weren'teating there to use the tables. There was a very limited menu and they were unable to even provide tomato as a roastie filling. When we fid find a table we had to clean it ourselves. Luckily I had alcohol wipes in my bag. Not great in the middle of a pandemic. Space around the tables was taken up with bikes etc making wheelchair access difficult where it shouldn't have been. Read moreThis is an absolute treat of a restaurant/cafe if you have kids. It has a large and varied play area with some paddling pools and some kids equipment. Aside from this it does good food at very reasonable prices. Some of the food is as you'd expect, sausage rolls and cakes, but it also did a very nice Laska and vedge bowls.
To round it off the coffee was very good quality and the serving team were friendly and helpful.
