Ordered a toastie to eat in, on my lunch break. They forgot to make it. After 20 minutes I went to the counter to ask where my toastie was. They admitted they forgot about it. I could see how this could be done as the staff seemed to spend more time having a giggle with the local school students who were in at the time. I eventually got the toastie, bacon chicken and cheese as ordered. In their hurry to make it, the bread was not toasted and chicken was stone cold. They offered to reheat it (not make a fresh one) but t I didn't have time as I now had to return to work. At this stage I had been in the shop for nearly 35 minutes. I was given a refund for the toastie and token 2 pastries. I also ordered hot chocolate which got cold waiting. They gave me a fresh one, but by the time it came, I had to go. I like Bob n Bert's, food is great, if somewhat pricey, for what you get. But I was severely disappointed in the customer service today. The attitude of some of the staff was ' we are sorry, but don't really care'. When I said about the cold chicken, I didn't get a verbal reply or apology, which made me think they didn't believe me. A toastie isn't complicated. Forgetting about it in a busy coffee shop might be excusable, but to forget about it and then not even make it right, is inexcusable. Attitude of "give him his money back for the toastie and throw him a couple of buns" - Really poor and disappointing. Bob and Bert's probably won't miss my custom, but I'm sure 3 Kings or Warkes further along Porstewart promenade...
Read moreI always loved Bob & Berts Portstewart but unfortunately since they have moved to the new premises it has really gone down hill. Food is fine but staff are awful. I was in one day just for a coffee to take out. Took ages because a couple of staff knew what they were doing and the rest were just wondering about aimlessly. I have been in a few times since and it really hasn't improved. Don't know if it's lack of management or lack of training but I was totally frustrated when we went in there for tea tonight. I ordered food that was fine. I went to get knives forks condiments etc there were no knives so I asked the girl for some. Then I realised I needed butter and when I disturbed the girl (who was more interested in her phone) for butter she said there should be some there!!! I had to lift each pot to prove it wasn't. When we were leaving I asked for take out coffees there were no sticks for stirring and when the girl checked they had none. I spoke to another lady who had to bring her coffee back (not sure why) and she said she was totally disappointed with her service as well. If young girls are going to be employed they need some kind of guidance/management otherwise the place is going to lose...
Read moreWe've just moved to Portstewart, and saw several reviews saying they were dog friendly. So we walked the half hour into town in freezing December rain, got inside, sat at a table, and ordered a round of coffees. Our small dog sat calmly and quietly under our table. Immediately after we'd paid and been served our drinks, a staff member told us they're no longer welcome dogs, and kicked us back out into the rain. Couldn't even finish our drinks inside. Apparently they got complaints and no longer allow dogs. It's obviously not the fault of the staff just doing their jobs, but the fault whatever management made this decision, so I'm hoping if we can complain ourselves maybe they'll change it back. We'd probably be here almost every day if they welcomed dogs, but until then they've lost all of our custom. This was the last dog friendly venue on the prom, so they'll be missing a lot of customers by being...
