DISAPPOINTED IN NEWTOWNABBEY
KFC is a favourite eatery of mine but, after today’s experience I will not be back. I asked for three pieces of chicken with loaded fries and a rice box for my daughter who has ‘special’ needs. That came to about £19 which is, quite frankly a lot of money for what you get. And what did I get a small piece of chicken, a medium sized piece of chicken and a breast made up of bones and grissil with so little chicken I would have needed a microscope to see it. It was so hard I would have needed teeth like a crocodile. My daughter could not even begin to deal with it. So we asked the girl if we could have a replacement? No nothing can be done she said. That left me with no option but to talk to the Manager a large burly chap who had no sympathy whatsoever. I asked him if this was acceptable and his reply was I am not in control of what’s in the chicken. Would you or could you eat that I said? I don’t eat meat he said. Well, I thought this vegetarian has no appreciation for customers who do enjoy chicken so why is he even working here if he detests meat so much? Would this standard be acceptable to someone like Gordon Ramsey I said? Oh he runs 5 star restaurants, this is just fast food. In other words, it’s cheap crap, be thankful for what you get and don’t expect any good will from us. What happened to the customer is always right? Needless to say he stuck his heels in and showed no good will whatsoever. A very dim, short sighted and rather pathetic stance I thought. I told this pompous, arrogant man I would not be back even though KFC is one of my favourite eateries. It was water of a duck to this fellow. Very disappointed! Incidentally, I could not get out of their toilet and had to bang on the door until a customer helped me, no staff available to help. I do not recommend this branch of KFC in Newtownabbey not only because of the very poor attitude of staff and management in particular but because the standard of hygiene and cleanliness is very often atrocious and...

Read moreKFC would always be my go-to food in the event that I grow hungry while out and about. What I experienced with this particular site was nothing short of dismal. From arriving at the drive-thru, I was met with a voice of an employee who was so unenthusiastic, I felt the life drained from me from the brief interaction. No ‘thank you’ or ‘Hello/welcome’ was disappointing - which I’ll admit, is not detrimental and not the reason I write this negative review.
I had ordered the Trilogy Box Meal (over £12) which was given to me without a takeaway bag - which again, is not detrimental but it would have been nice. The burger was what disturbed me the most, as I’m sure you can gauge from the image below. It was utterly poor. The lack of lettuce and mayonnaise was scanty and the chicken patty was desperately thin. I’ve never had a worse looking sandwich. We all know it’ll never look close to the displayed burger but this was just exceptionally poor. I feel like Michael Douglas’ character from Falling Down while writing this. How can you feel comfortable serving a customer a poor meal, I can’t wrap it around my head, we all need to be kind to each other these days - if that means making a greasy fast food burger the way it was meant to be assembled, so be it.
Unless I am stuck for places to go, I doubt I will visit this site again....
