5 Stars – Flavour on a Mission
Visited Luna and was genuinely blown away. My wife had the Katsu Chicken Burger, and the chef's secret spice blend didn’t just show up—it showed off. She said it was packed with flavour in every bite.
I had the Wagyu Burger, and honestly, the reduced jam was unreal. But the real headline? The chips. Layers of thin-sliced potato, seasoned with sea salt and herbs, soaked and fried to perfection. I’ve never had chips like that—easily the best I’ve ever tasted.
Cocktails? Had two. The Buckfast Pornstar Martini—wrong on paper, absolutely right in the glass. Followed that with the Mr French, which was all kinds of smooth and punchy.
The place itself has a vibe, and you can tell it’s run by someone who cares. Neil’s the chef and owner, and it shows in every detail. Everything’s made from scratch and done properly buy him and the whole team, Service was spot-on too—friendly, relaxed, and on the ball....with some crack on the side.
Highly recommend Luna if you’re into food that’s got thought, flavour, and some serious...
Read moreI’ve lived in Carrickfergus for four years, often dreaming of the perfect restaurant: small, affordable, relatable yet a bit adventurous, fresh, authentic, gourmet, unfussy, friendly, and delicious. Finally, I’ve found my perfect place.
While there are a few great local spots, they’ve become a bit tired over time. In a small town with limited options, the same menu items can become monotonous.
Tonight, I visited a new restaurant for dinner and was immediately impressed by its quality. The dimmed lighting set the perfect dinner ambiance (bright lights are a major pet peeve of mine). The portions were just right, allowing me to enjoy three courses without feeling overly stuffed or like the food lacked value (oversized portions are another pet peeve). The menu had a few select options for each course, which I believe is always a sign of good food (too many options usually mean ultra-processed, frozen foods).
This restaurant might have found exactly what Carrick needed. Thank you for bringing this gem...
Read moreWent tonight with my two young kids for our second visit to Luna in Carrickfergus, and once again it was absolutely superb. From start to finish, everything about the evening was faultless.
I started with the breads and curry butter along with some chorizo – both were absolutely amazing, full of flavour and beautifully presented. For mains, I had the posh fish and chips which were hands down the best I’ve ever had, while my wife went for the steak which was cooked perfectly and packed with flavour. Portions were generous, and despite the top-class quality, the prices are very reasonable.
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, even with young kids, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. Honestly, it’s the best restaurant anywhere around here – nothing else comes close. A real gem in Carrickfergus and already a firm family...
