I used to love going here but ever since lockdown it's went down hill. This review is really long but the short of it is if you want terrible service, the wrong food, a microwaved meal, to be laughed at by staff and to pay plenty to get this terrible experience this is the place for you. Me and my family went here for a birthday dinner, we were seated next to the door and every time someone came in and out we were absolutely freezing (there was plenty of other tables that were free I dont know why they sat us here). I had ordered the vegetarian burger and was brought out the chicken burger, I told the waitor who didn't seem to care much at all, my mother recieved a cold roast dinner, she told them and they took it back to the kitchen and microwaved it, £16 for a microwaved roast dinner seems absolutely horrendous to me. They eventually did bring out a vegetarian burger to me but they brought out the wrong side and garnish, everyone at the table had finished their meal, I ended up sending the meal back as god knows how long they would have taken to to bring me out a third meal after waiting so long for the second. I went to pay and the server asked me how was my meal, I told her it was awful and I never received anything o asked for, she laughed in my face. Never in my life have I been laughed at by a server and for the first time ever I asked to see a manager, I stood and waited 10 minutes for him to come out, during that time the woman who laughed at me came over and told me she thought I was being sarcastic, I asked her what part of it seemed sarcastic, she never responded and walked away. Eventually when the manager did come out I told him everything that happened, he told me that if I don't book that they may not be able to give me a good seat, I told him I had booked. He avoided talking about the woman laughing in my face and instead repeatedly told me that its normal for resturaunts to sometimes get orders wrong. I totally agree with him, accidents do sometimes happen but being laughed at in my face, receiving a microwaved meal, having terrible seats and REPEATEDLY giving me the wrong meal should never ever happen all at the same meal. He asked for my number and said he'd call me to discuss giving me a gift card (why he couldnt do it then and there i dont know), its been a week and he's never called me back, I called yesterday to say and they told me he wasn't in but he'd give me a ring when he was back,...

Unfortunately we had a really poor experience here and whilst we would have mentioned this to the staff if asked, we really didn't get a chance to complain which I'll go onto explain. We booked a table for 4.30pm on Sunday after taking our daughter to see Santa and we were seated quickly, and commented on how lovely the decor was. That was unfortunately the only positive part of our experience.

We ordered 3 drinks (two pepsi which was totally flat) and 2 starters as well as 2 mains and a meal off the kids meal. Our starter arrived which was vegetable soup and wheaten bread. The soup sadly was just salty water with bread that fell apart like powder. We were disappointed but thought we'd give the benefit of the doubt as it was busy. Fast forward 45 minutes and no-one had approached after taking our bowls. Our main arrived nearly an hour later with not an apology but a comment from a waiter saying "Oh I seen you both looking at me so I thought you were hungry" - we were. We then waited an extra 15 minutes for our daughter's kids meal, which we had to ask for twice. Our mains were cold when they arrived, but we were that worried about sending it back Incase it would take too long and we just wanted to leave at that point. No-one came near the table to ask if everything was okay. The waiter collecting our dishes basically ran to our table and left when we'd finished, giving us no opportunity to remark on the food, service or why our plates were full. He actually asked "All okay?" To which I started to say "Well.." and he cut me off asking about desserts. They brought our daughter a tiny container of melted ice cream and we then had to leave quickly as we were about to get locked out of the car park, not anticipating that we'd be there for the length of time that we were there.

We know and understand it's the weekend before Christmas but we've eaten out in other places this week and honestly it was such a poor experience. We went with the goal of buying gift vouchers for our friends and family and ended up going to another restaurant for these. I rarely complain unless absolutely necessary but it was such a...

Took wife mum & dad for Saturday meal. Booked in advance which was great. Hadn’t even sat down or taken my coat off and was asked for drinks order. At least let us sit down first! Menu is basic but not bad. Average price for a prime restaurant. I ordered chicken Maryland and my misses ordered Fried wedges of brea as she’s vegetarian. Food took about 25-30min which was about right. My mum’s chicken and mash had no veg and my Maryland was quite dry so ordered veg and gravy. 10 minutes in I asked again for it and after 15 minutes and half way through I had to go up and ask manager for it. Veg came out shortly after then after going up again my gravy came. Very disappointed in the service as my dinner was not great as it was dry and they had the cheek to charge me Ā£3.50 for gravy and Ā£4 for veg. I probably won’t go back as meal and dessert(overcooked sauce on my pudding and not real banoffee)for 4 came to over Ā£100 and dessert was very disappointing. It’s a shame as it’s such a lovely...

Had takeaway food delivered and it was delicious and piping hot. The Grouse is by far the best restaurant and bar in Ballymena. It is in a great location in the heart of the main shopping area. There is a big car park right behind which is very convenient. It is quite upmarket with interesting and luxury decor and has lots of character. I have been here many times over the years and have never had a bad experience. The food is of a high quality but also very reasonably priced. In fact I have been in cafes and other lower grade restaurants in the town which are more expensive and nowhere near as good. My favourite thing about the Grouse is relaxing and looking out the windows watching all the hustle and bustle from shoppers in the town going by. There is a lovely cosy atmosphere and I love the fires they have dotted around it inside. The staff are always great and look after customers very well. If you haven't tried this place I can vouch you will love it when you do.

I visited the grouse a couple of Sundays ago for their Sunday lunch menu. I had the turkey and ham and my husband had the roast beef. The starters and desserts were delicious. The prawns especially. The quality was 10/10. I also visited last Wednesday with my sister for a midweek dinner from their new mid week menu. I had the mushroom bruschetta and chicken Atlanta (a grouse classic) and both were fantastic. At Ā£18 for two courses you couldn’t get better value anywhere. The waiting staff were lovely and courteous. Didn’t get the ladies name but she was so professional and friendly. Best spot in ballymena for any occasion really. Excellent wine selection and the cocktails are all delicious and much cheaper than some other local restaurants/hotels. The grouse are ticking all the boxes, well done.
