What a gem of a find, just on the little high street across from the harbour. Lovely young staff serving simple, classic cafe food. We had the lunch time Irish stew with soda bread and it was absolutely delicious (£6.50). Fresh chunks of carrots and potatoes with melty soft meat. Very warm and nourishing, much needed after a chilly ferry crossing. Very good prices and clearly popular with the locals. Cash only.

Unfriendly staff, coffee was gross. When I asked for 2 other dishes they didn't have it so had to choose the chicken curry, which only had about 3 pieces of chicken in it and it was tiny. Not an adult portion. They didn't accept card payment..Wouldn't recommend

Great food, needs better menu display on the front - wouldn't have gone in if it weren't for the reviews. But it was a delightful discovery. Would recommend trying out the delicious Irish stew here! The place is quite congested but it's crowded for a reason.

Let's start from cleanliness.Floors are dirty and messy. After mentioning that the tables are very wonky server tell me to stick some newspaper under it. We waited half an hour for our food. I've ordered a tea which arrived with dirty mug and piece of food in it. Got served with clean mug with stinking attitude from server. After food finally arrived server spilled hot chips on my daughters hand and knees. 4 times we have to ask for the dips that have been ordered with the meals. After server bring the dips she asked again with stinking attitude "is that finally everything?". At the end of our meal we went to pay for the bill but they have lost our table docket so we have to tell them exactly what we have ordered. Very unprofessional!! We leave very disappointed and definitely won't be back there!!!! High Prices do not equate to the standard of service and quality of...

I highly recommend the fresh Local hake.... Did I say "Local" hake? One must bear in mind that hake is a deep-sea fish and live beyond the Continental Shelf, many miles offshore. There are, however, some hake fish stocks living in the deeper offshore waters around the British Isles - explaining why it is very rarely caught by shore anglers. Local hake served at The Promenade Cafe is sourced responsibly by John Morton Sustainable Fisheries, Ballycastle, from an ancient deep-trench in the North Channel, midway between the Causeway Coast and the Mull of Kintyre. Of consistently excellent quality, and lovingly pan-fried to perfection by Sandra at The Promenade Cafe, its flaky white flesh has a lovely delicate, subtle texture. It is only 'to-die-for' delicious! Yet another local delicacy, when in season, is the home-baked rhubarb tart... a...

We were sat at a bench outside with a wooden fence separating our food and an area covered in dog poo. Could smell this when we sat down so moved to a different seat. I ordered chicken Goujons and chips to find frozen goujons and very disappointing chips. I guess we should have known the food would be bad when they made us pay before cooking the food, and we did notice another group of people left and did not touch their burgers (I can see why). I’m struggling to understand how this place has so many good reviews, it’s the worst place I’ve been in a long time. Now for the one good point: the...
