Firstly can I state that the waitress serving us gave us excellent service to the best of her ability and was very friendly and apologetic.
I rang the day before to request if they could cater to certain allergens to which I was told was not an issue and they could cater for these, no problem. The guy speaking to me on the phone was confident that these allergies was of no issue and even said he listed the allergies beside our booked table.
The next day at lunch time, we ordered the meal which had been previously discussed on the phone ,a day in advance, to which the waitress returned stating they could only provide meat and veg. After explaining the phone call, she apologised profusely but we politely declined the offer and said we would just pay for our drinks which had been served to us already. The waitress then returned from the kitchen and said her chef has just made fresh boiled potatoes and could offer these. Although this was not what we wanted or previously ordered via phone and in person we felt obliged to accept their efforts to cater for us. The 2 meals arrived, one catering to allergies the other as it came from the menu which was uneatable. The food tasted like leftovers, very bland with over cooked meat and undercooked side's and although massive portion sizes, we felt we couldn't even try to be polite and finish it. Quantity over quality, really disappointed after reading reviews we were looking forward to dining here. We understand allergies can be difficult to cater for, but by calling previously and enquiring about this we felt very disappointed by the service received upon ordering, and the back and forth cant and can cater for your allergies and upon threat to leave due to the fact that my partner physically couldn't eat here, they came up with a solution to which was not cooked well at all as the sides of veg and potatoes were under cooked and the meat over cooked. After the disappointing service, different side than was intended and mix up, they did not reflect their apologies...
Read moreBooked a table for 2 for Sunday afternoon. I had breaded brie to start and herself had spicy prawns. Both were fantastic. Ì had the venerable cod and chips with mushy peas which was perfect. Couldn't finish it all though, and I'm a good eater. Suz had a Thai green curry with extra chillies. I was feeling the heat of it across the table, it was so hot! She had rice and chips as a combo to go with it. Again, she too had difficulty finishing it all, so she doggie boxed the remainder and ate it next day for lunch. The point is that a place that gives you the welcome they do here, and the quality of fare they present for the price they charge, is a rare thing. The quality of food is unbelievable and the quantity is too. This place will be our monthly treat from now on. If you're looking a super meal out for a great price, hit the Vintage, you'll be back. Oh, and leave a good tip, the...
Read moreHaving looked at the reviews I thought this would be a good place. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. It is the only place where I have never been able to finish my meal because the food was so bad I feel I couldn’t stomach it. I very much try to finish most of it because everyone can have a bad day but on this occasion it really wasn’t great. It tasted like reheated left overs, especially the potatoes which we were told had just been made fresh. They do give you large portions but it’s more quantity over quality. However that being said the waiting staff were incredibly friendly hence the two stars not one, they very much so must...
