Went for a friend's birthday meal to this pub, no one was overjoyed with their meal. I had a steak cooked saignant. It looked lovely but tucking into it to find it was cold. Spoke with a lovely gentleman who couldn't do enough, asking if the other meals were acceptable. We all spoke honestly; my meal was returned to the kitchen and replaced by a hot steak and chips. At the end of our meal management had kindly deducted the cost of the steak, and fish and chips. We felt this was totally unfair on the establishment and insisted we pay for the fish and chips as we complained, in main, about the cold steak. I've been fortunate enough to have eaten in many restaurants and pubs, we didn't pay for, nor expect, an Ivy Soho Brasserie type experience but did expect an average pub grub meal, it definitely fell short. Positive criticism will hopefully help management in keeping on top of small things such as chipped plates (could harbour harmful bacteria) the odd cold meal, vinegar on tables, small portion of peas, chips etc. All in all a little disappointing, but couldn't praise management's response enough in how it dealt with the matters raised. One final thing! I'm not sure if a kitchen KP fancied me, or was overly concerned about our dining experience. After our complaint had been acknowledged he came out and visible stared at me on four separate occasions. I'm not one who is exceptionally sensitive to such behaviour, but I did find that vexing. In future I'd advise him to go ask for a photo, and, or phone number!

I used to visit Ferry Inn quite often, however after a poor experience last year I stopped going. As a last minute decision my wife and I decided to stop off today for a drink as the weather was nice and the pub has a large grassy area with plenty of seating. The interior of the pub is very nicely decorated, with candles lit on some tables which adds a bit of atmosphere to the place. The location of the pub is also very quaint, down a small residential road which feels almost like you're in a countryside location. We decided to get 2 bottles of Heineken and 1 pink gin and lemonade and were shocked that it cost us £20. For a family pub/restaurant we hoped that drinks would be more affordable and would typically only expect to pay this amount at a city centre bar. On the positive side, the food that we saw being brought out looked much better than what we had previously tasted in the past. Maybe if we visit again we will stay clear of the alcoholic drinks and perhaps try the food once again. There is also plenty of parking available for customers and the pub is located close to the tram stop which is literally a 2 minute walk.

Fantastic atmosphere, lovely staff but mediocre food. We visit on Tuesday evening a bit late for their timing (8.30pm). We were told that kitchen service is closing in 30 min. We placed our orders and food arrived in 20 min or so. I ordered burger and my Mrs salmon fish cake. Fishcake was edible but nothing special. When it comes to my burger I was impressed by my fries, really delicious. When it comes to the burger plot has twisted. As a someone in love with smoked food, my first impression was that they used some odd bbq sauce. It was too smoky even for my liking. Later I realised that real issue is almost charcoaled burger patty. I had to carve all surrounding in order to be able to eat my food. If I didn’t know that kitchen was closed, I would ask for replacement since burger was not edible with original state. Would like to give this place another shot since we really enjoyed the ambiance.

Me and my husband went here for Sunday lunch, We've been before an it's been ok. I don't know what on earth has happened to this place but the food was awful, I'm not a picky eater and after wating for food being hungry, It takes a lot for me to say "I just cant eat that, I just can't I'm sorry." I had the festive beef burger and it was really disgusting, the meat was fatty and hard , the chips and the onion rings were pale, tasteless and undercooked, no presentation on the plate just a plate crammed full of undercooked chips and the meat was revolting! There was nothing about the food on that plate that resembled anything festive at all! It made MacDonalds look like a Michelin Star Restaurant.

The chef (I think it was) came out to us and he did apologise and said the dinner was on the house free which was really nice of them they were kind enough to substitute it as I had barely touched it. The substitute dish I chose was the festive vegetarian wellington just in case they were having an "off" day" with cheap fatty bad meat (I'm not vegetarian) but even the second dish I couldn't eat , again, undercooked , roast potatoes were pale no color not cooked properly, lumpy dry gravy, the greens looked ok but had absolutely no taste , they were dry and the whole dish was just so FLAT but it was better than the first one, after just a few mouthfuls of the second dinner we just had to leave.

What made all of this so much worse was that just before leaving I went to the toilet, put handwash on my hands, lathered up only to find that there was barely a drop of water coming out of any of the three taps.! It took AGES to wash off the soap suds as best I could and then i had residue, there was just no way of getting it off! All taps across three basins were the same. I tried them all as know one was in there. I eventually came out of the toilets and my poor husband and been waiting a long time.

I had a look at the other reviews on here and it seems that there is a problem here Ferry Inn with Sunday and the dinner and I also wont be visiting again...

Decided to pay a visit to this pub. With an option to sit outside in the garden area in the sunshine, what could be better than to sit in comfortable surroundings with a glass of something refreshing perusing the menu. With a choice of special dishes on then menu as well as the classics.

Service today was provided by Helen and Aaron. Helen dealing with a large table and Aaron took everything in their stride with ease. The plade was really busy for a Wednesday lunchtime. So bookingbus always advisable. I ordered sirloin which was month watering tender and cooked to perfection. Aaron's approach to dealing with customers immediately puts everyone at ease. With his sense of humour, his knowledge and his efficiency is just effortless. Helen who is hospitality manager made us feel welcome and made us feel at hone. That being said the kitchen staff who tend not to get the acknowledgement they deserve did the place proud. So well done Brandon and the rest of the staff.

I was tempted to try the pork belly which seems be popular. This place is ideally situated on the banks of the Trent. 10 minutes from the city on the tram. You can take a wonder visiting the church and the surrounding area of Wiford village. Drop in to the pub for a bite to eat with its choice of snacks and main meals. What could be better than to kick back, relax and take in some well deserved personal time. Whether that be G&T, bottle of fizz or just a pint. You won't be disappinted.

Once again thank you Dom (the Manager) and your...

My husband and I took our 1-year-old here for Sunday lunch on the weekend. It has a really lovely atmosphere - really cosy and feels like a proper pub, while still being quite modern and nicely decorated. The food was delicious. My husband and I both had the roast turkey and my son had the kids fish pie. All were substantial meals and beautifully cooked. The turkey was lovely and moist, and the Yorkshire pudding was perfectly done. The veggies were very good as well. The fish pie went down pretty quickly, so my kid obviously enjoyed that too! We shared a millionaire's cheesecake for dessert, and it was amazing. Definitely rich, but not so rich you feel sick afterwards :D

The staff are absolutely lovely. Very friendly and helpful, and very patient with the baby. He's likes to wave to people as they go past, and whenever any of the staff had a hand free, they would wave back. We definitely don't expect our kid to be entertained when we go out, but it was certainly nice!

The only reason I've given 4 stars and not 5 is that it was exceedingly slow. It took 40 minutes from when we ordered to get our lunch. Dessert was quicker, but still slower than you'd expect for a slice of cake. In fact, the only thing that was prompt was being seated. We arrived at 13:40 on a Sunday, so it definitely wasn't quiet, but it wasn't at capacity either. It just seems like the staff are a little bit disorganised, and don't have proper checklists and systems.

I'd definitely go back, but with the expectation that it's...
