Arrived with a friend at 12oclock to have Sunday lunch which we’d had a couple of months prior and really enjoyed. We sat at a round table towards the back of the pub. First thing we noticed was the table was really sticky? To the point where the menu actually stuck down and ripped slightly pulling it away. My friend asked for the table to be wiped but that didn’t make any difference? It actually felt like it had been varnished but was still tacky? We then ordered drinks and our Sunday lunch at the bar. The lunch arrived, my friend had chicken and I had beef. The dinners were nothing like we had a few months prior? My roast beef was sliced silverside that you buy off the shelf at the supermarket. It had the infamous vein all the way though and where it’d been heated it was actually curled up. I’d asked for no roast potatoes just the mash potato as advertised on the menu. It arrived with vacuum packed boiled potatoes which had no reference to the menu. The meal in comparison to what we’d had previously was dreadful! It was like a frozen dinner. Although it wasn’t an extremely warm day the windows, front door and back door into the garden were all open. Hence a mass of flies constantly wafting around the table. I pulled the sliced silverside off my plate and wrapped up for my friends dog. We then ordered dessert and the ice cream sundae turned up in a soup bowl! When I got up to order more drinks at the bar, I asked the man serving why everything was so different? He was unsure as he was new and had only been there a few weeks. He was very polite and asked in the kitchen about the ice cream sundae dishes. He was told they’d all been broken?! Surely these aren’t an expensive item to replace and maybe whoever is clumsy enough to keep breaking them all is in need of a little staff training? My friend and I actually meet in the Dog and Partridge every month as it’s half way to where we both live. Albeit it’s only the second Sunday we’ve met as it’s usually a Friday or Saturday we meet so what we choose to eat has usually been different. But the difference in our last Sunday experience was night and day. If that is what will be served as a Sunday Lunch in the future we won’t be returning! I actually invite you to try this frozen dinner which was served up. As for everything else it’s just a case of somebody using their common sense. Flies will fill a place where food is around especially as they don’t need to fight to let themselves in! Sundae dishes are readily available in any cheap shop establishment. And if tables are being varnished, surely they can’t be used until they’ve dried out?! We’ve already booked our next monthly catch up elsewhere, just metres up the road which is a real shame as we’ve met here at the Dog&Partridge...

Read moreShocking, I have already supplied feedback but here goes, we waited over an hour for the starter a sharing platter of wings and ribs, when it came it was a single portion so another 15 minutes wait, unfortunately not worth the wait the chicken was probably the best food of the evening, the ribs very poor quality we were very surprised that after the description sharing platter it came is a tin bowl with NO plates, I had to request plates for the food, Main one; Lasagne, yuck!! Flat dry and burnt around the edges did not meet your description at all, the garlic bread tasted of lemon horrible. Main two; Scampi, chips and mushy peas we suggest that you alter the description of this meal to breadcrumbs, chips and green wallpaper paste, there was very little scampi filling, majority was left, mushy peas were removed from the mouth and returned to the plate, and come on who can ruin chips, well your establishment can. On the whole it was a very poor performance from your staff, who were extremely surprised when we arrived and announced that we had booked a table on line, OH really I will find out where it is was the reply... My husband had trouble paying for the bill with debit and credit card, had to use my mine which is the same accounts so there should not have been this problem, We did complain to the on site manager who was very apologetic and offered us a free dessert, as if we were going to try any more food in your restaurant, NO chance, only problem is we spent over £80 in the Dog & Partridge £42 of it being on food which was not fit for purpose and we did not receive a refund. It is the first and last time that we will visit. We had tried to book 5 other eateries that evening but they were all full, we should have heard alarm bells when your on line booking process had every hour available...
