Royal Piri Piri — Restaurant in Oldham

We attended Royal Piri Piri on the 01/08/21 around 6pm and was greeted fairly well and got a table for 2 the place was currently half full when we arrived.

When I was ordering my and Mrs food I was told that the Chicken Pasta would take around 40mins (I did go to the waiter twice to make the decision) to make which a bit too long for my wait time especially as we came from Bury.

Also, when ordering the food the waiter don't come to the table you have to go to the front desk area to order (even though they have loads of staff in the front)

So, Instead I ordered the Chicken Steak with 2 x Bread Rolls 1 x Piri Steak Sauce my Mrs got Half Chicken with Chips and Rice (I orded Chicken Pasta to take out) we probably placed the ordered around 6:10pm and got told it would take 20mins-25mins to get our food my Mrs food came first 6:40pm my food came around 6:50 10 mins doesn't sound a lot but food can get cold really quick. (they should of put my Mrs food in the warmer and gave it with mine - my personal opinion).

My Mrs wouldn't eat her food as she was waiting for me and wanted to eat together he food had gone slight cold (due to the front door being open) My food was fresh and decent the waiter who originally took my order was apologetic the delay (I did appreciate him saying this but he should of come to us earlier also)

I was happy with my food but my Mrs wasn't too happy with her (guessing it was cold and she was unhappy with the delay in food) also she stated the rice were bland (but I was unable to see and spicy sauce I could put on the rice)

They only have one toilet so if it's really busy you can be waiting a while to use the toilet.

Despite the experience we had, it became really busy as we were eating and they had to turn people away so I guess this place must be popular with the locals.

My Mrs also noted that people attended after us and they got they food before us I did however suggest they could of booked the table earlier and placed the order over the phone.

My Mrs jokingly suggest glad we didn't ask for the Chicken Pasta we would of been waiting for 1 hour 20 mins (I guess she was doubling the time they waiter stated)

When I paid for the food I didn't mention I was unhappy with the delay in food (typical of me to be nice).

The size of the restaurant (guessing due to it being in the centre of town) also quite small and tables are put close together.

1 Star for delay in food 1 star for bring my Mrs food out then waiting around...

Lots of good things to say but also important improvements needed.

The food is very good needs to improve the portion size for example if there is 3 people then provide 3 chops, 3wings , 3 prawns etc don't leave one person short.

The tables, chairs and menus could do with some tlc (tender love and care) for a place that clearly states "Cash Only" clearly can afford to make some adjustments to improve and make it more family orientated.

The was one random staff or people playing the phones on loud which disrupted other customers and doesn't allow us to have a nice conversation.

Gentle soothing nasheeds or some gentle instrumental would bring a better environment.

Last but very important people are spending money at your restaurant please have the courtesy to use proper plates not plastics as if one is going to a friends BBQ. This does not present well and does not want make one feel like spending money.

The service was excellent however was difficult at times to get attention as no call system or any waiters walking around.

This is the only reason why I reduce the stars. Please do carefully consider all the points mentioned it could become an amazing place to visit. Food is good and worth the trip if the venue and others are improved.

Ps it's good to have a cash machine onsite or provide card payment options.

Parking is on the road and needs to be paid between 8am and 6 pm.

I don't usually complain or write reviews. Infact this is my first time. I read reviews of this place and they were good. So I made the 35mile trip to Oldham. The food I ordered was a sizzler. There was so sizzling pallete so they clearly didn't know what a sizzler was. It came out looking very messy. Like kat food. Immediately put me off.. but as i tasted it.. it tasted very very strong and too much flavours like they really didn't know what they were doing. Very tangy.. (not peri peri tangy) vinegar like tangy! Disgusting it was.

I immediately went to toilet and I puked up. I never puke up like that but it was vile. All the way home i wasn't too great.. but stomach had settled a little. The morning after i was on the toilet 4 times and it felt like the sun was coming out. They had one flavour of what they call 'peri'.. it's hot sauce. Dont get me wrong I'm south east Asian.. I can handle my spices but this was a bunch of upsetting flavours that I would never recommend anyone going near.

I felt maybe I ordered the wrong thing. But my freinds who ordered the signature dish that is all over these reviews have been messaging me from work that theyre stuck in toilet too.

I feel alot of these reviews are in house reviews or friends. Horrible experience and I hope to God I never go near this place ever again! Honest opinion I'm giving sorry to offend...
