Need to do better with regard to car parking situation.
They donāt have their own car park, there is a large one next door to it (Bradshaw) itās free to use for 3 hours however both times weāve gone we have received car parking tickets.
First time, we honestly made a mistake and didnāt realise you needed to get a ticket from the machine but signage is very unclear (small font, white writing on teal background)⦠appealed but they made us pay. Ticket was written 4minutes after we arrivedā¦
Second time, got a ticket, placed on dashboard but inspector said it was difficult to read. Got a ticket⦠no photo taken of the difficult to read ticket⦠appealed but made to pay again. Ticket was written 6 minutes after we arrivedā¦
Oldham council are a bunch of crooks, and have inspectors literally waiting in the car park to prey drivers. Summit Up need to do better and resolve this with the council because without their own car park, they are part of the problem⦠because their staff know about it! After the second ticket we spoke to the staff and they know what Oldham council are doing!
Both SummitUp and Oldham council should be ashamed...
Read moreI brought my daughter and her friend for a while and they loved it. The food was good, there is a lot of space for climbing and the staff were vedy helpful and friendly. The only two criticisms I would say are the price and the slide. We booked a slot for 1.30 but they were not led to the video area until gone 1.35 so 10 minutes of an hour were not spent climbing. £15 for 50 minutes seemed like a lot. We booked another hour which cost me another £30 for the 2 of them. Maybe a promotion of "stay another hour and get 10% off" would entice people to stick around longer. I spent £100 for less than 2 hours yesterday which seemed steep to me. The slide which was £2.50 each, was impossible to hold on to as their hands were sweaty from climbing and the grips were twisting around the handle. This meant they could not hold on to get anywhere close to half way up. Maybe consider better grips for the handles or give people the powder used for lifting weights to give them a better grip. People would get their money worth this way. Other than this, we fully enjoyed ourselves and would consider...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreExcellent centre for climbing, plenty of routes to keep you busy. Easy grades to hard (from 4 to around 7a I think).
CafƩ with soft scoop ice cream, toilets, changing room, disabled loo.
They have lockers but you'll need your own padlock, I'm not sure if they sell them.
Bouldering area is great, plenty of routes with a cool hanging center area for some interesting problems.
Around 5 Auto belays in the wall climbing area (approx 16m high).
Plenty of lead climbing and top roping routes.
Clip and climb area for the kids and those that just want a day out doing something physical. They also have a kids multi level play thingy which looks awesome fun.
Excellent staff, all brilliant - the centre deserves a visit no matter if you're a seasoned climber of completely new, both ends of the spectrum will feel completely welcome and enjoy their time.
There's parking in a car park about a minutes walk away, it's free at the weekend (make sure you still get a ticket) and £1.50 on weekday...
