I've been waiting to review this place for a while, but I've not had the photo to add to the food! Saints is a small, two floor cafe nestled in Uppermill. A warm, wooden aesthetic makes you feel cosy and at home from the second you step in. I've had breakfast/brunch here a bunch of times, sticking with Eggs Benedict as my go to, my partner usually picks up the mega breakfast which does it's namesake justice. On an oven bottom muffin, two perfectly poached eggs are set with runny, golden yolks, Hollandaise and fresh chive. Underneath is tender, sliced ham. There's a solid depth of flavour in the dish, though personally I do find the Hollandaise on the sweeter side! Food feels like it comes quickly, coffee is often on the hotter side, but that doesn't ruin the overall flavour of the beans.
The food pictured in this review, Eggs Benedict and a Latte came together to total around Β£12, which isn't breaking the bank. Eggs Benedict comes in at Β£8.50, which has seen a small price increase since my last visit, unseating it as Uppermill's cheapest offering.
All in all, it's a solid value to cost ratio that has kept us coming back time on time. Give it a go if...
Β Β Β Read moreCracking little cafe! Definitely better than the one in the park round the corner. Love the outdoor space and the bit opposite is also theirs.
Stairs are a bit steep which makes a trip to the loo interesting! Unfortunately too many people just go in to use the loos because they are better than the one in the park.
Food has always been good and drinks are fine. Love the Oreo cookie milkshake.
UPDATE: As ever, staff were absolutely fabulous.
We booked in in the the morning for lunch today, table had a reservation sign on it and they really looked after us. I went for Bacon and Cheese on bagel and it was spot on. Not too much food but still good value. That coleslaw is lush!!
Kids had breakfasts and swapped stuff out and they got everything spot on.
Forgot to get the 4 drinks stamped on my card...
Β Β Β Read moreNice relaxing atmosphere but service a little on the slow side. What really disappointed us, I no we are in hard times with the cost of living crisis but the food that we ordered was average/disappointing. A Tuna melt and Bacon, Cranberry & Brie sandwich. You can't really mess up a tuna melt and the sandwich was ok but not much cranberry. What really disappointed us that both sandwiches were supposed to come with coleslaw, crisps and salad. I've never seen such a small amount of coleslaw, barely a heaped teaspoon full served in a little pot usually used for a small amount of ketchup. Salad was 4/5 pieces of green leaf with a little dressing and the crisps consisted of 5/6 nachos but a cheap alternative to the Doritos brand. Nice place but food lacking. People are still paying good money for a...
