San Rocco — Restaurant in Oldham

Bad from start to finish...... I have been loads of times before and I really enjoy the food and drinks but tonight me and my friend ordered a Bellini and then got told they didn't have any peach juice to go with it, so we ordered a cosmopolitan instead and when that arrived it tasted watered down but we didn't complain we just ordered a simple Malibu and lemonade. We ordered food me and my friend both ordered chicken in a creamy white wine sauce with mushrooms. We waited over a hour and when it arrived the sauce was dark and tasted like chicken gravy, it defiantly wasn't creamy or white wine sauce. I politely told the waiter it didn't look or taste right and he didn't even apologise he just looked at us confused and not bothered but asked if we wanted to order something else. He also said a different chef may have cooked it??? Doesn't matter who cooked it, it wasn't creamy white wine sauce. I was hungry and disappointed by this point and was consimplating getting the bill as it made us feel awkward as we was apologising to him for complaining because it has always been nice in the past. we ordered 2 different pasta dishes which came out after 10 minutes and both being different types of pasta it was hard and had been rushed to be cooked and the chicken in my pasta looked like it was left overs from my previous dish chopped up. No apology what's so ever for serving food a 10 year old could have cooked. Worst £45 I have ever spent. I will never go...

Genuinely the worst meal we have ever had and was no surprise we could get a table for 12 people straight away. Atmosphere is absolutely awful through out. Ordered chicken with parm and chips brought me out RAW the server even checked the food and told me not to eat it as it was raw , sent this back to the kitchen no apology.

My partner ordered salmon linguine through out the whole dish there were 4 tiny peace’s of salmon we asked the server if this is how it’s mean to come she agreed it’s not correct & brought the manager out. Another sever when we sent the food back was shouting near the steps up to the second floor and waving his arms round at us sending the food back.

The bill came and they still tried to charge for the raw chicken we had sent back to the kitchen. We questioned another item on the bill and as it was a bottle of wine and we did not recognise the name was told by the lady behind the bar “nice try “ when we asked to take the service charge off and advised we would rather tip the lady that served us we were told the tip is to go behind the bar to be split across the rest of the staff who did not serve us.

We were also advised to leave a review after my partner said he did not want to as it would not be a good one he was advised to still leave it as there having lots of issues with the kitchen

I would never step foot back...

Scaled, bought-in catering. Find no pleasure in discrediting local businesses, but I’ve been disappointed three times in a row and am likely not to return.

I’ve explored the menu over three visits; two of my dishes I’d put money on being frozen/vac packed and reheated, three compromising of identical components I’d suggest were falsely described.

Lobster ravioli is simply terrible and sold at a premium. Tonight I had ‘slow cooked lamb ragu pappardelle’ that I’d put money on being the same bolognese used in all other dishes. It was mince meat, and not slow cooked… you can tell the difference when it’s done low and slow vs a generic, reheated raw tomato sauce. Other dishes have also been a let down.

I’d advise sticking with pizzas and tiramisu, as you can tell they are done in house and relatively well. Also the Sunday lunch option is pretty good, and you can’t complaint at the quality for cost on the set lunch menu.

Service ok, if not a little curt, but I’d put that down to personality over a standards issue.

Stick to Sunday lunch and pizzas. They should abandon the poorly done Italian classics. Running a reduced, better quality menu wouldn’t leave me regretting paying an over...
