I can safely say that our first meal out at Pompette was one of the best meals I've ever had - not least because it ended up being the reception dinner for our wedding. After our original plans were thwarted by lockdown, we pivoted to a small family wedding, and scoured the list of Oxford restaurants for one with amazing food, a beautiful setting and that could host us safely, following the Covid guidelines of the time.

Pompette was all of these things and more, treating us to a sublime three course meal which everyone declared to be the best food they'd ever eaten. The Pompette team were so warm, attentive and determined to give us a beautiful occasion to remember, deftly organising courses around the little speeches given by family members and allowing a friend to take some photos on his DSLR.

We returned to the restaurant recently, with high hopes and fond memories. The team recognised us at the door, greeted us with bubbly, asked after our honeymoon and made us feel a million dollars.

We recently visited Pompette to celebrate my husband's birthday and had a truly lovely experience. The sommelier and waiter were superb. The sommelier, in particular, was very knowledgeable and shared fascinating details about their recommended wines from the Sicily region. We tried both a rosé and a red wine, and both were delightful.

To mark the occasion, the staff wrote a lovely card to welcome us, which was a thoughtful touch. We ordered the steak frites, which was quite good value. The steak was perfectly cooked and very flavorful.

Our waiter was exceptionally attentive, always checking on us to see if we needed anything. His attentiveness added to the overall wonderful experience.

The staff were exceptionally welcoming throughout our visit. Since we chose to sit outdoors, we appreciated the cozy blankets provided – exactly what I needed to stay comfortable.
