Our last visit to this pub was one of the worst experiences. My PhD colleagues and I used to come here for a pint and dinner after training badminton nearby, but the last time they did allow us to stay. We were all served a first pint, but when we tried to order food, one of my friends was required to show prove of age since she looks under 25 (she’s not), she showed the BRP card, an official ID issued by the the British govt, which displays the DoB. But they alleged that it is not a valid ID here (!?), and she had to leave because after 7pm minors are not allowed to stay in the premises. Their policy is however completely incoherent, there were children inside the pub right next to us (picture attached), also they had served us beers just few minutes before, and in any case, they should’ve checked out IDs at the entrance if they want to be completely strict about this ID eligibility policy. The worst part is not even that, but after we decided to leave, they didn’t want to reimburse the money for the food and beers we just ordered. We literally had to argue with the manager to get our money back. The worst pub I’ve visited in Oxford!
