We booked for a table of 6 plus a high chair at The Old Kings Arms by telephone. Our daughter is in the army, and she is stationed in England. Her trip to Castlemartin worked out this time, and we were able to catch up with her and a colleague she was travelling with. When we phoned, we told the gentleman that part of our party had a baby, will be arriving before us, and will order food for the baby. So when we arrive with our daughter and colleague from Castlemartin, the adults will all order and eat together. How will you be paying? Was asked by the gentleman, all together or separately. This was before we even arrived. Shocked by the question. My wife answered probably altogether. Really does that matter?
Long story short.
Drinks ordered food ordered. Halfway through the meal, the staff wanted to clear the table of half empty glasses and wondered if they could clear half eaten food. Not only once but a few times. They either wanted finish early or were on a promise.
When we came to pay the bill, Around ÂŁ300. unbeknown to us our daughter and colleague get an allowance from the army to eat out as they are away from their main camp. The barman said I was told you would be paying all together. Now I'm going to have to sort the bill out again. Rudely. And when our daughter and her colleague asked for a receipt, omg what a bloody palava the barman made of that.
We are in the Catering trade have been for over 50 years.
I wouldn't recommend this place, or come back, the staff and bar man need to be trained or retrained, or a new till system put in.
Feel sorry for the chef. The food was lovely. Sorry we won't be...

The inn and pub are charming and the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. A good sized car-park at the rear of the building provides free and easy parking for guests. ||Our room (room 22, a standard double) was in the newer part of the building. It was spacious, extremely clean, and very comfortable. It was a bit plain, but that in no way took from the enjoyment of our stay. ||We enjoyed a late afternoon drink in the pub as well as a delicious dinner in the restaurant. We spoke at length with the gentleman at the reception desk following dinner, and he even took it upon himself to follow up with some print-outs of information we had discussed and loaned us a full guide book for Pembroke Castle. The included full English breakfast provided us a great start to the day before heading out to explore the amazing Pembroke Castle, which was less than a five minute walk away. ||We were very sorry that we only had one night here, and will definitely be...
