Our recent family trip to Pembroke Castle was a delightful adventure for everyone of us, I can confidently say this historic site offers something for everyone. From the moment we arrived, the friendly staff made us feel welcome. The castle grounds are well-maintained and stroller-friendly, which made navigating with our youngest a breeze. The visitor centre provides useful maps and information, ensuring we didn't miss any highlights. Pembroke Castle excels in keeping children entertained. We were was fascinated by the guided tour, which brought history to life with captivating stories and fun facts. The interactive displays and medieval re-enactments were a big hit, making learning enjoyable. For kids the expansive lawns provided plenty of space to run around and explore safely. Climbing the towers and walking along the battlements offered breath-taking views of the surrounding countryside. Loved the adventure of exploring the winding staircases and hidden passages. The dungeon and Great Hall sparked their imaginations, and they were thrilled to discover the castle's rich history. We appreciated the ample picnic areas where we could relax and enjoy our packed lunch with stunning views of the castle. The on-site café also offers a variety of snacks and meals, catering to both adults and picky eaters. Clean and accessible restrooms added to the convenience of our visit. Pembroke Castle is an outstanding destination for families. Its blend of educational experiences, interactive activities, and beautiful scenery made for a memorable day out. Whether you have curious older kids or energetic toddlers, Pembroke Castle provides a perfect setting for family fun and historical exploration. We can't wait to...

Don't let the price put you off, it's well worth the visit, adults are £10 or £11 with gift aid, kids and consensions £7.
There's a free guided tour each hour that's very good, we had John he was really funny and made it not only interesting but fun too.
We learnt a lot from his tour , like the meaning of being caught read handed , walking over the threshold and more. Cheers John.
We where going to leave for lunch and come back as long as you keep your ticket that's possible, John however told us the cafe was good so we took a look, we did eat there and yes it was OK for ease but we're not very impressed with the price or the service, I know it's convenient being in the castle but reasonably priced I feel not so much so we shared a meal.
Back to the castle, it's really interactive and informative there really is so much to see and do unlike many ruins Pembroke castle is very well looked after and in good maintaine for the age it is, we spent 4 hours there's so giving the entry prices it's very good vaule and I'd think we could have spent at least another hour there had we fully emerged ourselves in the history boards about the castle.
Its dog friendly, has good disability access and much of it is accessible with ease so very enjoyable if you have mobility restrictions due to the layout you can allow children to run around the large open area but of course becareful !
Access via town is easy with carparks and public transport close by, along with a nice walk around the lake or a pint and a meal waterside.

Read moreI visited pembroke castle on Thursday 27th July 2023 with my family. My partner, 9, 5 and 2 year old. I drove into pembroke from havens lydstep beach holiday park. About a 20 min drive from there along one A road. I parked on a large carpark called the commons. Payed around 4.10 for upto 5 hours using the pay by phone app. From there the castle is easily located and about a 5 minute walk just up the hill to the entrance. I payed 32 pounds. 9 pound per adult. 7 pounds per child. Under 3s go free. We spent around 2 hours exploring the castle and I would recommend visiting on a sunny day or dry day. Alot of the parts to the castle are quite tricky to navigate with young children and prams can only access the lower levels although we just left ours at the bottom etc. One of the large towers has a small steep winding staircase with people coming up and down so can be quite stressful with young toddlers who may need to be carried. Brilliant views from the top. Overall its worth a visit to this historic castle and the kids loved the big map of Wales on the floor in the main courtyard. They have a cafe, toilets and have an ice cream stall. Plenty of benches to sit down. They also run tours for free telling you about the castle at certain times and have exciting role plays and characters for the kids if they are a little older. Quite entertaining. On the way out there is a small gift shop selling your usual memorabilia and you can walk on a path around the outside of the castle to take in different...
