Railway Hotel — Restaurant in Penarth

If I could I would leave a zero star! Waited for 20 mins to speak with the lady allowing people into the pub, got to the front and there were no tables available however was told one would be available at 8pm (1/2 hour wait) therefore we stood around waiting and at 8pm was showed to a table outside and told to order food by the bar or on the app, decided to go to the bar, upon arriving at the bar you could hear someone in the kitchen swearing ! Approached the bar ordered drinks and then started to order our meals but were then told the kitchen closed at 8pm! As you can imagine not very happy with this so called the manager over, who really didn’t care apparently they had run out of food! I mean I understand a restaurant may run out of one or two meal options but a restaurant/hotel running out of food!! There were also other guests this had happened too. We had our baby shower here and I can honestly say I will never be booking anything with them again. We were forced out even tho we had the tables till 6pm as stated my the manger. 2 days before our baby shower the manager informed us that he had moved us to a different location in the restaurant which was not big enough for our party at all. When we stressed our concern, management didn't care at all. We later returned to the pub/restaurant to give it a second chance but unfortunately they got my food order wrong and when I went to the bar to tell them, I was told by a very rude member of staff that they wouldn't not change it. His attitude was disgusting, luckily the chef overheard and came and changed it for me. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't have got what I paid for. My partner and I stopped in here for a pint after a nice stroll around Penarth, and we're so glad we did! We ended up staying for food and another drink because we were pleasantly surprised with the vegan options (especially the desserts, a lot of places barely have 2 vegan options). Our food arrived SUPER fast, the service was lovely, and everything tasted great. I had the Coconut Thai Vegetable Curry with extra crispy chicken fillet, my partner had the Vegan Bombay burger followed by the Sticky Toffee Sponge Pud with non-dairy ice cream. All delicious, reasonably priced, and I can highly recommend this place. I'll definitely be returning for some 2 for 1 cocktails! 😄
