Bar Aroma Ltd — Restaurant in Portsmouth

Unfortunately as a group of 11 we did not have the best experience.

We had pre booked our table so notice was given for our evening to start at 19:30. We were advised that a few drinks were not available as they did not have the sprits in stock. We were then advised to wait 10-15mins before we could order to ensure that food was prepared and bought out in time together. When ordering after deciding what we wanted, we were then told a few foods were off the menu and the staff needed to keep checking back with the kitchen that they had particular orders available. We understand that not all foods are always available but advising us before we decided what we wanted before ordering would have been thoughtful considering we needed to wait extra time before ordering food. The food did not come out all together, cold platters seemed to come out last which was unusual. I had asked for the pesto and mozzarella burger - I had no pesto in my burger, if anything I had some chutney so I wasn’t quite sure what was going on there. Very small portions for the price of a main meal, my burger was also quite watery.

The waitresses were kind, helpful and they listened but it just seemed quite unorganised and a bit chaotic. We were unsure who was actually in the kitchen as the food standard wasn’t great. It was a...

We love Bar Aroma; just knowing we’ll be there lifts our spirits, whether it’s for our morning coffee or a breakfast of excellent proportions and flavour. Everything is delicious with an Italian flair: the coffee, the quality of the desserts, the seasoning of the food, and you can even find Italian products if that’s your thing. What we enjoy most is the good energy from the staff—they make us feel welcome and at home. They’re the kind of team that motivates you to come back; they remember your name, what you like and what you don’t. It’s clear they do everything with love and passion, and that’s always appreciated when receiving good service. They’re pet-friendly, organise activities with local artists, and you can also book them for important events like Christmas dinner. There are lovely details all around the place, and there are extra services that are much appreciated, like a place to hang your coat and self-service water. The atmosphere is visually pleasing, with photos and touches of Italy. They sell alcohol too :) after all, it’s a bar, hehe. We’re so happy to have places like this...

Highly recommend bar aroma for any party/Event. We had our annual work summer party at Bar Aroma. The night was the best so far. From the initial booking to the night itself it ran smoothly without a hitch. Kim the events planner kept in touch and made sure all of our requests were met. The venue is already beautiful with its decor and fairy lights but they added some other details to fit our summer party theme, along with party lights the atmosphere was perfect. We hired the singer Brooke Star for the evening who was incredible. The Italian grazing table was delicious and catered for all. Most importantly the staff were fantastic, they were friendly & accommodating, there was never a wait at the bar, glasses always being cleared and they all went above and beyond.
